Demi Lovato Is Engaged To Boyfriend of 1 Year Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes After ‘Intimate Proposal’

Singer Demi Lovato and Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes have taken a major step in their relationship after the songwriter proposed with a custom diamond ring. The engagement followed an intimate proposal in Los Angeles, celebrated with family at a favorite restaurant.

Beyond co-writing "Substance," Lutes contributed to Lovato's album "Holy F---." In interviews, Lovato expressed happiness and teased future love songs. Lutes marked birthdays with affectionate posts.

As reported by People Magazine, Lovato and Lutes are set to tie the knot, as the couple, who confirmed their relationship publicly in August 2022, recently got engaged in Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old songwriter, who collaborated with Lovato on her song "Substance," proposed with a custom pear-shaped diamond solitaire engagement ring from N.Y.C. luxury jewelry boutique Material Good.

Following the "intimate proposal," the couple celebrated with their families at one of their favorite Los Angeles restaurants.

In addition to co-writing "Substance" with Lovato, Lutes has writing credits on tracks like "Happy Ending" and "City of Angels" from Lovato's eighth album, "Holy F---."

During an interview earlier this year with CBS Mornings, Lovato shared: "I don't know what I'm going to write about on my next album because I'm so happy. It is a really good feeling ... definitely a bunch of sappy love songs — for sure."

In another interview on SiriusXM's "The Morning Mash Up" in July, the "Heart Attack" hitmaker opened up about their love story and highlighted their friendship, stating, "We became friends first. We were friends for several months, and then we decided to start dating."

When asked who initiated the conversation, Lovato said it was "a mutual thing." She explained: "We were texting, and he said something, and I was like, I took it one way and he was like, 'OK, if you take it one way, then I know you like me. If you don't, then...' You know that kind of thing? And so, I took it that way and he was like, 'OK, got it." She added: "Yeah, I'm super happy, and he's my best friend."

In March, marking Lutes' birthday, the "La La Land" singer posted a heartfelt message referring to him as her "sweet angel."

She shared on social media, "My sweet angel - it's officially your birthday!!! I couldn't be more excited to celebrate you because I couldn't be more in love with your gorgeous, funny, sexy, talented self."

She continued: "I've waited my whole life to find you, and I can't wait to celebrate so many more birthdays together.. you're a literal dream come true and I'm so grateful to call you mine." Wishing him the best, Lovato added, "Have the best birthday, my love… you deserve it, the world, and more!!!"

During an appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show," Lovato couldn't contain their excitement about their relationship with the indie rocker and shared a quirky tattoo experience.

"So my boyfriend was on tour with me, visiting and we had a tattoo artist there and he wanted to get a tattoo of a song title of mine called 'Forever for Me,' which is a song I wrote about him," Lovato recalled. "And while he was getting tattooed, he was like, 'I want you to do it.' "

She added, "I assisted, I wouldn't say that I gave the full tattoo, otherwise that would have looked really bad," adding a laugh. "But I did a good portion of it, and it turned out OK."
