According to a statement shared by the band on their Instagram and Facebook pages, the drummer has passed away at the age of 77. Burgess was the band's original drummer and started playing with them after joining the group in 1973.
Their statement read, "Very sad to hear of the passing of Colin Burgess. He was our first drummer and a very respected musician. Happy memories, rock in peace Colin." The musician's cause of death has yet to be disclosed.
Burgess' time with the group was short-lived as he was quickly kicked off the band a year after joining them for allegedly getting wasted while performing on stage in 1974. The AC/DC original drummer was eventually replaced by longtime member Phil Rudd and several other drummers.
