Lisa Bonet was not shy with words when she criticized Woody Allen for the OTHER thing the director's known for ... not hiring people of color for big roles in his movies.
Bonet, husband Jason Momoa and her daughter Zoë Kravitz were walking to their hotel in NYC when Momoa was asked if he would ever work with Woody Allen. The photog is asking about Allen's alleged sexual misconduct and inappropriaxte behavior over the years ... but Bonet chimes in and says, "We don't think he puts people of color in his movies."
The director has been heavily criticized over the years for not including diverse roles in his films. In fact, African-American actress Hazelle Goodman is the lone person of color with a major role in any of his movies, she played Cookie the prostitute in 1997's "Deconstructing Harry."
Allen has defended his casting choices in the past, saying “Not unless I write a story that requires it. You don’t hire people based on race. You hire people based on who is correct for the part. The implication is that I’m deliberately not hiring black actors, which is stupid. I cast only what’s right for the part. Race, friendship means nothing to me except who is right for the part.”
