Travis Kelce's Game Day Jersey Rakes In Big Bucks In Action

Swifties might say it's 'the Taylor Swift effect,' while NFL fans will argue that Travis Kelce is that guy! Nevertheless, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has achieved noteworthy feats throughout his football career. 

In a recent update, the NFL star reportedly made a substantial sum when his game-used jersey was sold for thousands of dollars at an auction.

According to new information, the No. 87 jersey Kelce wore during the Chiefs' 2019 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City has sold for an impressive $37,000. The sale, done through Goldin Auctions, sets a record for a game-used item from the 34-year-old at the auction house.

Following the purchase, Ken Goldin, owner of the auction, disclosed that it is "an all-time record" for an item used by the Chiefs star. He further explained to TMZ, saying:

"He has always been popular but the success of the Chiefs, as well as the publicity he's gotten around his relationship with Taylor Swift, has added to his popularity and awareness among collectors."

While Goldin is simply acknowledging the apparent situation of heightened interest in Kelce's love life, it is not the first time his jerseys sold for a high price. 

Back in September, when the rumors of the NFL star and Swift were starting to circulate, The Blast reported that the latter created a buzz when she enthusiastically cheered for Kelce during the Chiefs' game against the Chicago Bears.

Shortly after the game, Fanatics, the NFL's official e-commerce partner, claimed that the "Look What You Made Me Do" hitmaker's presence led to a surge in popularity for Kelce's jersey. This makes it one of the most sought-after items at the NFL Shop.

As one source explained, "Yesterday, Travis Kelce was one of the top 5 selling NFL players and saw a nearly 400% spike in sales throughout the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com." 

As for her time there, Swift was seen enthusiastically rising from her seat and joining the celebration when her beau scored a touchdown. The moment, including her commemorating Kelce's mother, Donna, in a private suite, was captured on camera and posted on X.

"Let's be honest, they've been together more than we all think… #Taylor #TaylorSwift …. She's into him. Period," one viewer wrote under the viral clip. Another X user lengthily commented:

"I'm rooting for these two. Taylor and Travis, that is. I can see it. I thought Kelce had a new, slick haircut and looked slimmer. Now we know why…right? #TaylorSwift #TravisKelce Are we saying #TayTrav, or what is the merge?"

Amid the support from Swifties, the Grammy Awards winner finally shared some details about her romance with Kelce, asserting that they began dating way before the speculation about them sprung up. 

Per The Blast, Swift divulged that they struck a bond after the Cleveland Heights graduate revealed feeling a bit disappointed for not having the chance to give her a friendship bracelet he crafted for her during a stop on the Eras Tour.

Sharing the story on his "New Heights" podcast in July, he added, "She doesn't meet anybody, or at least she didn't want to meet me, so I took it personal." The "Blank Space" singer described the incident as "metal as h—," and declared that they started hanging out shortly afterward. In her words:

"We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for because we got to get to know each other."

The MTV Music Video Awards recipient continued, "By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."

Later on, Swift expressed her shock that the media keeps locating her whenever she shows up to support Kelce at his games. She said:

"I don't know how they know what suite I'm in. There's a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don't know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once."
