Britney Spears Has No Plans To Reconnect With Jamie Spears Despite Leg Amputation

Pop star Britney Spears reportedly has no plans to connect with her estranged father, Jamie Spears, despite his health complications.

Although some reports have indicated that the 42-year-old pop star plans to reconnect with her father amid his failing health, it appears that there is no truth to those rumors.

Even though Britney is reconnecting with her mother, Lynne Spears, her older brother, Bryan Spears, and even her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, it seems as though she has no plans to reconnect with her father despite his failing health.

In September, Jamie had surgery to try to clear an infection that had been caused by a knee replacement that occurred over a decade ago. Unfortunately, according to TMZ, he ended up spending weeks in the hospital, and, after five unsuccessful surgeries, he had to get his leg amputated.

Although he is in frail health, a source told Page Six that, contrary to previous reports, the "Toxic" singer had absolutely no plans to reconnect with her father due to the alleged mistreatment she suffered during her 13-year conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021.

During most of that time period, her financial and personal affairs were controlled by her father. In her memoir, "The Woman In Me," Britney recalled instances where her father controlled her work schedule, how she dressed, and even how she ate. “At that moment, I started to feel like I was in a cult and my father was the cult leader,” Britney wrote in her memoir, adding, “They were treating me like I was beholden to him.”

“Two years is a long time to not be able to eat what you want, especially when it’s your body and your work and your soul making the money that everyone’s living off of,” she added of her strict diet, which she said consisted of canned chicken and vegetables for over two years.  “Two years of asking for french fries and being told no. I found it so degrading.”

Sources told the outlet that the pop star will “never forgive him for the abuses and trauma he caused.” They also noted that claims that Britney would send her father money to pay for his medical bills are false, noting that the two are still butting heads in a lengthy legal battle about her conservatorship funds.

Even though it is unlikely that she will connect with her father, Britney seems to be on good terms with her mother and brother, who both attended her birthday party last weekend. Earlier this week, a source told People magazine that Lynne Spears is “really making an effort to be in Britney’s life” although they noted that “Britney can be very stubborn” given what she’s been through.

In her memoir, Britney seemed to put part of the blame on her mother and the rest of her family members for not helping her get out of the conservatorship sooner. Sources told the publication that Britney “is still hurt because she feels her mom could have done more to help her” at the time she needed it most.

However, they went on to say that Britney “has very few friends and really needs to just be with family” amid her divorce from Sam Asghari. The “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce on August 16, 2023, after fourteen months of marriage citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

“Her mom does love her. There is no doubt about that,” the insider added, noting that Lynne has been “very apologetic to Britney” and “takes full blame” for not helping her daughter get out of the conservatorship sooner. “Lynne is really making an effort to be in Britney’s life. Britney likes spending time with her,” the source said. “They have a complicated relationship, but it seems they both need each other.”

A second source noted that “being together and celebrating her birthday was a really nice moment for the family.” Jamie Lynn Spears was reportedly also invited to Britney's birthday party, but she could not make it, as she was filming a TV show out of the country at the time.
