Joshua Jackson and Lupita Nyong'o were recently seen grocery shopping in L.A., going to great lengths to avoid being photographed together amid rumors of a budding romance between them.

Speculation intensified after they attended Janelle Monáe's concert in October. Lupita's breakup with Selema Masekela on the same day fueled the romance rumors, prompting her to share her heartbreak on Instagram.

Jackson’s recent split with his wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, added to the narrative.

During Jackson and Nyongo’s joint outing, The “US” actress, 40, opted for a laid-back look, sporting a floral sweatshirt, wide-leg pants, and a baseball cap. Meanwhile, Jackson, 45, kept it casual in a white sweatshirt paired with jeans.

To maintain a facade of a solo trip, the “Fatal Attraction” actor entered the store first, with Nyong'o following suit a few minutes later.

At the moment, the nature of their relationship remains unconfirmed. Despite an air of nonchalance in their time together, intense speculation remains that their connection goes beyond mere friendship.

Jackson and Nyong'o's connection made headlines in October during Janelle Monáe's concert in Los Angeles. Photos from the show captured by TMZ showed the duo standing close to each other in the audience, sparking speculation about the nature of their relationship.

While there was no PDA at the concert, their closeness raised eyebrows, especially considering the “Black Panther” actress parted ways with her boyfriend, Masekela, on the same day and swiftly erased all traces of him from her Instagram.

On Jackson’s side, the publication had previously reported a week before his night out with Nyong'o that his actress/model wife Jodie Turner-Smith had ended their four-year marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences."

At the time, a source informed People magazine that Turner-Smith decided to end the relationship. “They are on very different paths in life. It turned into an unhealthy marriage that made her unhappy,” the source shared.

After her breakup with Masekela, Nyong'o took to Instagram to pour out her emotions, expressing that she was in a “season of heartbreak” due to "deception" by an unnamed loved one.

In her lengthy post, she shared, "There are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering. At this moment, I must share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust.”

Nyong’o continued: “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, “Whatever, my life is better this way.”

The Hollywood star noted that she is “reminded that the magnitude of the pain [she is] feeling is equal to the measure of her capacity for love” and that she is “choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet [her] life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass.”

She concluded her post, writing, “The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness. I hope it’s true… I share this to keep it, and I hope that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it. #Breakup. Let’s face our pain so we don’t spread it.”

Speculation once buzzed around Nyong'o and Monáe, fueling rumors of a romantic connection between the long-time friends. Despite whispers suggesting otherwise, the “12 Years a Slave” star clarified that their relationship is purely platonic.

Addressing the rumors, she candidly shared with Rolling Stone that she “was not surprised" by the speculations. She acknowledged Monáe's magnetic presence, adding, “She has [a] magnetism that they were obviously picking up on. She is that enigmatic. People are curious about enigmatic people. I was not surprised."

The Academy Award winner openly stated that she doesn't mind being associated with [Monae] in any capacity.”
