Washington police recently discovered the death of five family members in a murder-suicide incident. The cops were called to the home after a tip of a terrifying text from someone in the family about harming others. At the house, they found the dead family, including the suspected killer.
The news comes after another horrible incident involving the fatal stabbing of four members of a family in Queens, New York. The suspect of the crime also attacked two police officers before he was shot dead.
Five Family Members Found Dead In A Murder-Suicide
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the death of five members of a family in Washington state who were killed in an apparent murder-suicide. After receiving a phone call, the deputies arrived at the home in northeast Vancouver for a welfare check on Sunday.
The call came from an unidentified person claiming to have gotten a text message from a member of the murdered family. The texter reportedly admitted that they’d “harmed others” at their home.
While speaking with KPTV, the cops stated that the anonymous caller said they’d received an alarming text message and asked the police to please check in. That was when the deaths were discovered.
Police Found The Alleged Killer’s Body In The Home
Deputies arrived at the home and quickly called a tactical team for backup. The team used a flying drone to determine that there were multiple dead people in the house and no one with an active weapon. The medics and tactical team then broke into the property and discovered that five people had been shot dead.
The team determined that the deaths were murder-suicide after finding the body of their suspected killer among the deceased. They confirmed to the news team that there was no danger to the Clark County community at present and kept the identity of the suspect and their relatives confidential.
A Family Was Fatally Stabbed In Another Shocking Incident
The terrible incident in Washington is eerily similar to a murder spree in Queens, New York. On that same Sunday, police discovered that a man had stabbed multiple members of his own family to death. The suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon, killed four people, including two kids, just after five in the morning.
Police told CBS News that a young girl called 911 and said her cousin had stabbed their family members to death. A neighbor claimed to have seen the girl outside the home and said, “The girl, I seen her running with no shoes on. She wasn’t saying anything. She was running trying to get help.”
When police arrived at the home, they met Gordon outside on the driveway carrying luggage. The Department Chief, Jeffrey Maddrey, said, “They engaged him in a short, casual conversation, ‘Hey, did you hear anything? Do you know what’s going on?’ And the male kind of nodded and then he drew a knife off his person and immediately attacked both officers, slashed the first officer in the neck and the second officer in the head.”
They Found Courtney Gordon’s Dead Family In The Home
After Gordon attacked the police, another officer shot and killed him. They then breached the home and found the bodies of an 11-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. The bodies had multiple stab wounds, which is likely the cause of death.
Police also discovered a 61-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds who’s alive but in critical condition at the hospital. Some of the neighbors spoke to CBS and shared that they’d heard loud arguing from the home the night before.
Neighbor Amisha Paul said the whole thing was “terrible, especially what happened to the kids. She shared that she lives a few houses down from the crime scene and had to evacuate because of the fire Gordon set before he left the home. Paul emphasized that she and all their neighbors are heartbroken by the tragic loss.
