One TikTok creator didn't have to imagine such a nightmare before Christmas, because she lived it.

Brett noticed two little glowing eyes staring back at her from deep inside the decorated Christmas tree that made her "freak out" a bit. But lucky for all of us, she grabbed her phone and documented the occasion to share on TikTok.

"I am literally freaking out right now," she said in her video. "I have no idea how this possum got in my house and up into my tree, and I'm trying to get him out, but it will not let me and I just don't know what to do."

The possum appears to be a fluffy oversized ornament, perfectly placed inside the tree and looking right at home.

A Follow Up Video Tells The Story Of The "Christmas Possum"

A few days after sharing her surprise holiday guest on TikTok, Brett shared her full story, and said she had no idea her "possum Christmas tree extravaganza" would go viral. She said had she known, she would have filmed a video showing how she got her uninvited house guest to leave.

"I had just got home from work. I was sitting on my couch working on my computer and I heard like a sneeze," she began her story time video. She then explained that she has three dogs and cat, so she didn't think much of the little sneeze.

"Well, then I heard it again, but a little louder with some other noises," she continued. "And I got up and started looking to see if my cat was like stuck behind the couch or something or sleeping in the window. But as I was looking around, I see this really big, long looking rat tail."

That's when she looks up and see the "giant gray breathing ball of fur" just chilling in her Christmas tree. She called her boyfriend and him and his friends thought it was funny, but he told her where to find gloves to try to remove him safely from the tree.

"So I get the gloves and I grab around his body and I start trying to pull him out of the tree," she said. "Well, they have hands and he was holding on for dear life to this Christmas tree. And no matter how hard I tried to pull him, he wasn't coming off."

She gave up but tried again, and even tried to bribe him with some food. Then she decided to "pluck his fingers from the branch, one at a time."

"It was a struggle and he started to like flop around and when I actually got him off, and then he fell on the floor along with all of the ornaments," she said. "It wasn't a hard fall, it wasn't very far down. But then he ran under one of my couches."

This hilarious nightmare of a scene didn't end there. The possum ran under one couch, so she would move the couch, and he would run under another. This happened multiple times. After a little break, she moved the couch and "tackled him like an NFL football player." She said he wasn't mean or aggressive but did smell pretty terrible.

Many viewers commented on Brett's bravery and how they would have thrown the entire tree outside with the live ornament still gripping the branches.

"I literally have left my house because a bee flew in one time. You belong on survivor," one person wrote in the comments. Another added, "You are brave!! I would have called 911. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚"
