It's been a heartbreaking few days for viral TikToker Noah Glenn Carter. His family's home in Eclectic, Alabama went up in flames on Monday, leaving them with nothing.
Amidst this tragic event, Carter has been subjected to hurtful comments about his house burning down. From people not believing the fire actually happened to making jokes about it, as well as criticizing him for creating a GoFundMe page, Carter has been dealing with hate during a tough time.
Noah Glenn Carter Lost Everything In The Fire
Carter shared a video on TikTok that shows his house actively burning with the words, "I was sleeping when this started. This was my childhood home," written on the video. In a second video of the house burning, Carter explained, "This is my house right now, guys. I was in it on the second story and I had to climb out of a window, but I'm alive. Everybody's safe, nobody was hurt."
The video shows the house fully engulfed in flames as firefighters tried to get a hold of the fire. In a third video, Carter explains that he lost everything while showing what the house looked like before the fire and what it looks like now.
"I grew up in this house. I was homeschooled. I did school in this house," he said. "And now it's just completely gone."
He said that everything in his room was completely lost, including his new PC and filming equipment. The family was able to save some things including family photos but did lose the majority of their things.
"I just want you guys to know that you may have everything right now. You could have every possession in the entire world, but in just a single day, every single thing you own could be taken away from you," he said. "So please don't take things for granted. Yesterday, I had everything, and today I have nothing. And I don't know how to go forward."
Each of the videos showing the house fire has received millions of views. The video explaining the situation has nearly 11 million views so far.
Many of his followers left their condolences and kind words in the comment section, but not everyone has been kind.
Noah Glenn Carter Started A GoFundMe Page
Carter created a GoFundMe page with a goal of $100,000 shortly after the fire and has so far received nearly $17,000 in donations from more than 1,000 people.
"My family house burned down today. We lost everything in the fire and need help going forward. Any donation will help tremendously," the page description reads.
Carter shared the information about the GoFundMe page in a TikTok video.
"I just made a GoFundMe for my house burning down today," he said. "Anything helps, including interacting, sharing, anything like that."
While many people dropped into the comments to leave their supportive words, some weren't so kind.
"Bru you richer then me you got it gang👍," one person wrote. Another said, "You got enough money lil bro 😭."
One viewer added, "Bro u grew up rich and ur even richer now, why r u begging for me,😭" and another wrote, "People donating are delusional. 😳"
Noah Glenn Carter Addressed The Hate In A Video
In a video captioned, "I also lost all of my clothes, shoes, consoles, games, bed, collectibles, cards, photos, and even more. I have nothing right now," Carter reveals that he sees the hateful comments.
"I keep seeing some pretty terrible comments about people either joking about the fire or saying it's fake or whatever like that," he said. "I don't think you guys actually realize that I lost everything yesterday."
He said while he didn't lose his car, he lost his car keys in the fire, as well as his driver's license, social security card, and everything in the house.
"I have basically nothing but my savings and I can't even withdraw anything from that because I no longer have an ID," he continued. "And I don't even know where to begin to start replacing that stuff."
He also said that the GoFundMe was created for his parents and not him.
"What happened yesterday is the single worst thing that has ever happened in my entire life," he said. "And I would not wish any of it on anyone, even the people that are saying despicable things about me and my family right now."
The comment section was a mix of more hateful comments and support.
