Singer Taylor Swift allegedly turned down an invitation to perform at King Charles III's coronation during her "The Eras" tour in May, as detailed in writer Omid Scobie's book.
Other notable artists like Elton John, Spice Girls, Harry Styles, and Adele also declined, posing a challenge for the coronation concert.
The information comes amid a storm of bombshell revelations from Scobie's book "Endgame," which has drawn a lot of public attention to the royal family who have been accused of shunning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Taylor Swift Rejects Offer To Perform At King Charles III's Coronation
In Scobie's latest book, "Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival," it was alleged that pop sensation Swift turned down an invitation to perform at the coronation of King Charles III.
According to the Daily Mail, Scobie wrote that the 33-year-old singer declined the offer in May during her "The Eras" tour concert at Nashville's Nissan Stadium, coinciding with the coronation on May 6.
Scobie claimed that other notable performers, including Elton John, Spice Girls, Harry Styles, and Adele, also passed on performing, presenting a "challenge" in assembling the coronation concert. Per US Weekly, Elton John's representative cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for his refusal at the time.
Scobie, who has been branded as the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle's "mouthpiece," made other scathing claims in his book, including that King Charles called his son Prince Harry "that fool" over his Netflix docuseries.
Katy Perry & Lionel Richie Performed At King Charles' Coronation Ceremony
With huge stars like Swift, Adele, Harry Styles, and Elton John turning down the King's invite, there were worries about what would become of his coronation concert event.
Fortunately, pop music icon Katy Perry, singer Lionel Richie, and Andrea Bocelli were among the big names who graced the occasion.
Perry spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the performance prior to the show, noting how "grateful" she was to be able to sing in front of King Charles on his coronation day.
She said, "I met His-Majesty-to-be a few years ago, and he named me as one of the ambassadors to his organization, The British Asian Trust, which is an organization that helps fight to end child trafficking."
"So, I'm also an ambassador for UNICEF, and it really aligned with my values. That's mostly why I'm going, to be an ambassador and to say, 'Hey, this is me from the USA.' No, but it's so cool."
Richie also shared his thoughts on being invited to perform with the news outlet, saying, "To be in this part of history, I'm just blown away, I'm so excited to be there. I'm walking in history."
