Author Omid Scobie's new book, "Endgame," has revealed more about King Charles' reaction to Prince Harry's bombshell Netflix documentary series.
An excerpt of the book claimed that the monarch openly criticized his son, addressing him as "that fool." The book also claimed that the debut of the documentary did not go well with The Firm.
Omid Scobie Claims King Charles Called Prince Harry A 'Fool'
Followers of the Sussexes' feud with the royal family may recall that in December 2022, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle premiered their Netflix documentary series named after them.
The project, released in two parts, unveiled previously untold stories about the couple's interactions with the royal family, both before and after their departure from their roles as senior royals.
While the prevailing opinion at the time was that senior royals, particularly King Charles, were dissatisfied with Prince Harry airing family matters in public, a new book on the royal family by Omid Scobie suggests that the situation might have been even worse than initially speculated.
"At the Palace, heads were in hands and migraines were brewing," read an excerpt from the book, per the Daily Mail.
"[The show] took the wind out of everyone's sails," a royal aide recounted. "[King Charles] went from not wanting anyone to talk about his son to openly criticizing 'that fool.'"
Omid Scobie Alleged Prince William Tried To Undermine The Sussexes
Another excerpt from the book claimed that the Prince of Wales, Prince William, "prioritized his loyalty to the monarchy" over his brother.
It was also alleged that the senior royal was one of those who actively tried to undermine Harry and Meghan by releasing information about them to the media.
While William has not denied the claims, some sources close to the family have come out in his defense, saying he keeps his family life private.
"[Prince William] has always been very tight-lipped when it comes to his family and made clear to anyone within his orbit that he would not do 'deals' with the media," they said.
An alternate source stated that the claims made by Scobie were "totally fabricated," further noting that the author was not acting ethically.
The insider added, "It's one thing writing a critique of the Royal Family. That's freedom of expression. But it's another thing to peddle conspiracy theories dressed up as fact."
Is Prince Harry And King Charles Feud Beginning To Thaw?
Scobie's book debuts tomorrow comes on the heels of news that the feud between Harry and King Charles had begun to thaw.
Per reports, the Invictus Games founder and his wife reached out to the monarch on his recently celebrated 75th birthday and had a warm conversation with him. It is now being speculated that the call was a first step in the right direction toward rebuilding ties with the royal family.
It was also recently reported that Harry and Meghan are open to spending the festive season with King Charles at Sandringham, despite claims that not everyone would be receptive to their gesture.
At the time, some insiders suggested that the King would opt for the Sussexes to visit him in Scotland over the New Year rather than during Christmas to prevent a clash between Harry and his brother.
Prince Harry Is 'Ready' To Forget Row With His Family
According to an excerpt from Scobie's book that was shared in a French publication, the Duke of Sussex is allegedly ready to "forget" his feud with the Royal family and move on to reconciliation.
Per The Mirror, Scobie claims that Harry said these words: "I'm ready to forget. Get an apology or explanation? At this point, who cares, right?"
Harry had once expressed his interest in amending things and was open to talking about how they behaved toward Meghan. He had wanted them to understand the struggles she was possibly facing during the period when she was one of the senior royals.
The French article shared other excerpts from "Endgame," including that the Sussexes still send photos and updates of their kids, Archie and Lilibet, to the royal family despite the current rift between them.
