Dean McDermott On How Alcohol Affected His Marriage With Tori Spelling
Reflecting on his downward spiral, McDermott confessed: "Alcohol made me feel good enough. I started feeling good enough until it got to a point where it didn't – it ended up in isolation."
He continued: "It ended up with me drinking a fifth of tequila every night, seven days a week, and a handful of narcos [prescription meds] by myself with a beautiful family in the other room.
"That's what it led to and that's what led to the brokenness and to what happened between me and Tori. I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't live that life anymore. I was tired of the anger and the yelling," he added.
McDermott also opened up about his transformative 40-day rehabilitation stint during the conversation. He expressed newfound contentment post-rehab and shared that he anticipates reuniting with his children and hopes that his progress will be a source of pride for both Spelling and the kids.
He revealed that he had not seen his family since June, when he moved them out of their rented home due to a mold issue. However, despite the physical distance, recent attempts at communication through text reveal a glimmer of reconnection.
