Philadelphia 76ers guard J.J. Redick appears to use a racial slur in a video wishing fans in China a Happy New Year, but he denies using the word in question.
Several players are shown wishing Chinese fan well on the upcoming Year of the Dog, including retired NBA legend Allen Iverson. The video then cuts to Redick, who says, "I want to wish all the NBA c***k fans in China a Happy New Year."
According to SB Nation, the video was not made by the NBA, but rather a Chinese media company named Tencent.
Redick is claiming he didn't say the word ā or he's saying he said it by accident, it's hard to tell ā tweeting Sunday morning, "Just saw a video that is being circulated of me wishing a happy new year to NBA fans in China.Clearly I was tongue tied, as the word I purportedly said is not in my vocabulary. Iām disappointed that anyone would think I would use that word. I love & respect our friends in China."
