Britney Spears' Ex Sam Asghari Slammed For 'Promoting' Thanksgiving Volunteer Work

Actor Sam Asghari is getting slammed by fans of pop star Britney Spears who were not fans of what the 29-year-old actor posted on Instagram Thursday night.

Although plenty of celebrities volunteer at different charity events, they usually don't "advertise" their philanthropy. The "Special Ops: Lioness" actor, however, shared video footage of his charity work and even ended up on TV, which users have claimed is in "poor taste."

On Thursday night, the 29-year-old actor took to Instagram to reveal that he spent his first Thanksgiving without Britney Spears doing volunteer work.

“@projectangelfood thank you for allowing me the opportunity to feed angels with you on Thanksgiving,” he wrote in the caption of a video that featured him chopping food in a bright blue baseball cap and polo. However, many were not impressed.

“Why do you brag about your volunteer work?? Ridiculous,” one user commented. “At least he’s one of the guys doing something,” another fan shot back. “He has a huge platform and keeps influencing a lot of people. Why are you complaining about someone's big heart? Shouldn't you be saying your thanks right now or something instead of being bitter?” another follower asked.

“Maybe he's showing the holidays can actually be about giving and helping others. Have you ever thought about that?” another fan asked. “It's raising awareness of the cause and raising the profile of the charity. Any charity would encourage this sort of promotion,” another user pointed out. “Hopefully it’s enough for others with influence and means to help, to actually do something,” another fan shared.

“Volunteering is an amazing compassionate thing to do. You should be ashamed of yourself for your comment. We need more volunteers out there. You're incredibly selfish & rude. If you don't like it, don't comment. Or stop following him!!!” another follower exclaimed. Despite the number of fans defending him in the comments, it didn’t stop the criticism.

“Britney’s knife skills are better,” one user commented. “I know she taught him those knife skills,” another follower wrote. “It was a joke because she posted a video of herself cutting bell peppers in a stupid way,” a third fan chimed in, although others thought that it might have been a reference to Britney’s viral knife dancing videos.

Following her September 2023 viral Instagram videos that featured her dancing with knives, Britney took to Instagram on October 1 to assure her followers that the knives were, in fact, fake, although many were concerned about the “clanking” sound that they made when she hit them together.

“I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA. These are not real knives,” she wrote in the caption. “No one needs to worry or call the police. I’m trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira … a performance I was inspired by !!!  Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks ??????!”

Britney had first started “playing” with knives in a video that she claimed was in preparation for Halloween. “I started playing in the kitchen with knives today ??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️ !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon ??? !!!” she wrote in the caption of her first Instagram video. However, she posted a follow-up video that featured her dancing with bandages which led several concerned fans to call the police to investigate with a welfare check.

“Is it a joke in the news again with wellness checks??? Come on America … we cooler than that, right ???” she wrote in the caption of another Instagram post. “The officers came to my home and said they would not leave until they spoke to me as people do 4-minute performances with them.”

She noted that she was getting an apology before going on to say, “I’ve been bullied in my home for so long now…ITS ENOUGH! Don’t talk about it, come on, let’s DO !!! As my mom does the silent treatment when paps ask questions about her own daughter as if I’m in the wrong…nope it’s an old game. People need to be responsible for their actions! It’s about power for cops.”
