Lauryn Hill has just opened up about why she officially postponed the Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill Anniversary Tour until early 2024.
In a statement released to The Blast, the singer cited the challenges she is facing due to her nightly use of Prednisone to treat her vocal strain to get through the shows.
She shared her experience with the medication, which treats various conditions by diminishing swelling and redness and altering the functioning of the immune system while expressing her commitment to make it up to fans with future dates.
Lauryn Hill Cancels Ongoing Tour To Attend To Her Health
In the statement, Hill expressed her appreciation for "the fans who have come out to celebrate this incredible milestone anniversary and history-making reunion with us."
After noting that performing her classic songs with "audiences who love those classics has been nothing but…wait for it…EPIC," she delved into the reason for the statement. The 48-year-old penned:
"As many of you may know, I've been battling serious vocal strain for the past month. I made it through each show by taking prescribed Prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long term negative affect [SIC] on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely."
The "Turn Your Lights Down Low" hitmaker's message continued, "For this reason we have to reschedule most of the remaining shows this year," before adding about the canceled shows:
"The shows that were canceled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we'll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. We're working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon."
Despite her challenges with using her medication, Hill promised that the show slated for this weekend in Philadelphia "IS STILL HAPPENING." Concluding the lengthy write-up, the "I Gotta Find Peace of Mind" singer penned:
"We want to thank everyone who celebrated with us—EVERY 👏🏾 SINGLE 👏🏾 FAN👏🏾 …and ALL band, crew, production, staff, family, friends and Day 1-OG-CAMP members who helped make each and every single night LEGENDARY! We're ALL looking forward to getting back out again next year to finish this EPIC (now extended anniversary) celebration of these CLASSICS."
Fans of the music icon will be looking forward to the return of the canceled shows, we hope for a speedy recovery for Ms. Lauryn Hill!
The announcement comes on the heels of the New Jersey native acknowledging her tendency for tardiness at shows during her recent tour stop in Los Angeles. According to Complex, Hill told concertgoers:
"Yo, y'all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night. I don't do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support."

She then explained that after the success of "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," she continued to play the same album repeatedly around the world as no one approached her to create another one. "Because we are survivors, and we're not just survivors, we're thrivers," the Grammy Awards winner shared as to why she did not give up.
Lauryn Hill Teamed Up With The Fugees To Create A Memorable Night For Fans
Back in June, Hill surprised fans with an unexpected performance during her headline set at a music festival in Philadelphia. As The Blast reported, the mother of six was joined by her former Fugees bandmates, Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean, during her set on Saturday, June 3.
The life-changing moment occurred after the record producer performed her cover of Frankie Valli's 1967 hit tune, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," and the rendition of her 1998 song, "Doo Wop (That Thing)." The crowd erupted as several members of the Roots, as well as Michel and Jean, stepped on the stage.
The trio then reminded fans of their musical prowess by showcasing perfect sync during their performance, starting with "The Score" and concluding with "Fu-Gee-La."
In between these two hits, the beloved hip-hop group delivered powerful renditions of "Zealots," "How Many Mics," "Killing Me Softly With His Song," and "Ready or Not."
