When asked how she would remember him during her recent appearance on "The View," the "American Horror Story" actress told the story of how she struggled with self-doubt and anxiety before her audition for the acclaimed drama.
Describing Perry as "one of the most generous people on the planet," Paulson noted that she was "at a particular place in my career where I needed that job very desperately." But because of their mutual friend Amanda Peets, who starred with the late 54-year-old in "The Whole Nine Yards," he generously provided Paulson with extra coaching.
The "What Women Want" actress then shared that the impromptu session played a decisive role in landing the fictional actor Harriet Hayes role. "He absolutely did not need to do that," she expressed. Paulson went on to reflect on Perry's genuine and supportive nature, stating:
"He was just the kind of person that if you made him laugh or if you made him smile, you felt like you had really arrived. I had the great pleasure of making him laugh a couple of times, and it made me feel really good. He is a wonderful guy."
Honoring Matthew Perry At The Emmys
The passing of Perry left a void in the hearts of many, including his "Friends" co-stars. This is why they chose to honor his legacy at the 75th Emmy Awards, scheduled for January 15, 2024, in Los Angeles.
As the entertainment industry mourns his loss, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer reportedly plan to share personal memories of their time with the late "Ally McBeal" star.
According to a source, "emotions are still running high" among the stars, acknowledging the sensitive nature of Perry's death. The actor was found dead in his home's hot tub, leaving the cause of death undetermined after an inconclusive autopsy, while waiting for a toxicology report.
They emphasized the cast's deep desire to honor him publicly, stating, "Jen, Lisa, and the rest of the cast want to honor him publicly at some point and give him the tribute he so rightfully deserves – and there have been rumblings to do it at next year's Emmys."
The insider expressed the intention to create a meaningful tribute if they could unanimously agree on a fitting homage, pending the family's approval.
Sarah Paulson To End Long-Running Stint On 'American Horror Story'
In a surprising revelation, the Hollywood icon hinted that Season 10 might mark the end of her tenure on the FX hit show. The announcement was no doubt heartbreaking for fans of Paulson, who was known for her diverse and captivating roles – ranging from conjoined twins to witches — in various episodes of the series.
During an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live" alongside "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum Lisa Rinna, host Andy Cohen inquired about her future roles with creator Ryan Murphy.
However, they were not prepared when the "Ratched" actress admitted to feeling a level of uncertainty about her AHS future. In her own words, "It's the first time in about three years where I don't know. I think this is my last season of Horror Story, probably. I mean, I don't know."
Paulson clarified that her uncertainty stemmed from the pandemic-induced hiatus, as it disrupted the usual flow of information and updates from Murphy. As Cohen and Rinna continued to sport shocked expressions, the "Impeachment: American Crime Story" star swiftly added a twist of hope.
She emphasized her penchant for unique and intriguing characters, "Every time he comes to me with some wackadoodle-stoodle character, I tend to be like, 'Yes! Let's do it!' So, I don't know. This is the first time. So, we'll see."
