88-year-old Judi Dench reveals that one time she accidentally FaceTimed her friend to wish him a "Happy Birthday"... in her birthday suit.
The "Murder On The Orient Express" actress appeared on "The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show" on BBC Radio 2, where she told the hilarious story of how she once FaceTimed her close friend, Chris Logan, to wish him a "Happy Birthday," but she didn't realize the camera was on -- and she was naked at the time.
Judi Dench FaceTimes Friend On Birthday... Naked!
The 88-year-old explained that it all started when her daughter, Fint Williams, whom she shares with her late husband -- actor Michael Williams who died in 2001 -- called her up to remind her it was Chris Logan's birthday.
"Fint rang me one morning... and said, ‘It's Chris Logan's birthday, and he's having a walk with Ben Whishaw in Regent's Park... please wish him a happy birthday?' [for me]?"
After she hung up with her daughter, the actress explained that she went upstairs to get into the bathtub before sending Logan a birthday message -- what she didn't realize is when she picked up the phone to call him, she accidentally pressed FaceTime (and she already stripped down to her birthday suit!
“So I picked up my phone… and I said, ‘Chris... Happy Happy’... and I just saw these two people turn and go *shocked*,” Dench said on the radio of the hilarious encounter. “Well... it was FaceTiming them... I don’t know about FaceTime… poor Chris... happy birthday!”
The host of the show then joked, “What a birthday message… you can’t top that though, can you?"
Judi Dench's Struggle With Macular Degeneration
Earlier this year, the 88-year-old actress revealed that she is struggling with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is a disease that affects a person's central vision.
Dench says it is truly a struggle to manage the AMD as she has a photographic memory. "It has become impossible and because I have a photographic memory," she said on "The Graham Norton Show" in February, adding, "I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page."
AMD occurs when the macula -- the part of the eye that controls sharp, straight-ahead vision -- begins to age.
"I used to find it very easy to learn lines and remember them. I could do the whole of 'Twelfth Night' right now," the "Murder On The Orient Express" actress added.
She said something similar when speaking to The Mirror, explaining, “I mean, I can’t see on a film set anymore. And I can’t see to read. So I can’t see much. But you know, you just deal with it. Get on.”
The “Casino Royale” actress added, “It’s difficult for me if I have any length of a part. I haven’t yet found a way. Because I have so many friends who will teach me the script. But I have a photographic memory.”
“It’s the most shock to the system. Ghastly," the 88-year-old actress went on to say. "It’s terrible to be so dependent on people.”
