The 88-year-old explained that it all started when her daughter, Fint Williams, whom she shares with her late husband -- actor Michael Williams who died in 2001 -- called her up to remind her it was Chris Logan's birthday.

Earlier this year, the 88-year-old actress revealed that she is struggling with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is a disease that affects a person's central vision.

Dench says it is truly a struggle to manage the AMD as she has a photographic memory. "It has become impossible and because I have a photographic memory," she said on "The Graham Norton Show" in February, adding, "I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page."

AMD occurs when the macula -- the part of the eye that controls sharp, straight-ahead vision -- begins to age.

"I used to find it very easy to learn lines and remember them. I could do the whole of 'Twelfth Night' right now," the "Murder On The Orient Express" actress added.

She said something similar when speaking to The Mirror, explaining,  “I mean, I can’t see on a film set anymore. And I can’t see to read. So I can’t see much. But you know, you just deal with it. Get on.”

The “Casino Royale” actress added, “It’s difficult for me if I have any length of a part. I haven’t yet found a way. Because I have so many friends who will teach me the script. But I have a photographic memory.”

“It’s the most shock to the system. Ghastly," the 88-year-old actress went on to say. "It’s terrible to be so dependent on people.”
