Pop music icon Katy Perry's mother, Mary Hudson, volunteered at Adam's Angels, a charity providing essentials for people experiencing homelessness and veterans.

The charity Adam's Angels, led by Hudson and her husband, addresses pandemic-induced challenges for the less privileged. The Pentecostal pastor is now entering local politics, seeking a role in the Republican Party.

Perry's mom's kind gesture comes after the singer and husband, Orlando Bloom, won a legal battle for an estate purchase while demanding millions in lost rent from the seller, disabled veteran Carl Westcott.

During that outreach outside Montecito's Pierre LaFond & Co marketplace, Hudson was accompanied by realtor friend Adam McKaig, the founder of the volunteer-run organization Adam's Angels.

Adam's Angels was founded in response to the effect pandemic-induced closures had on shelters and thrift stores in Santa Barbara. At the time, Adam's Angels directly collected donations from homes and distributed them to the less privileged at a local park. The charity evolved to include assembling bags of non-perishable foods.

Hudson serves as vice president of the charity, and her husband, Keith Hudson, is listed as a board member. Per the organization's website, Keith contributes actively to the organization by mentoring men facing challenging circumstances.

Meanwhile, Perry and her husband, Orlando Bloom, recently secured a legal victory to proceed with their purchase of an 8.9-acre estate in Santa Barbara from disabled veteran Carl Westcott, 84.

Westcott, a US Army 101st Airborne veteran with a successful business background, initially agreed to sell but later claimed to be under the influence of opioids and painkillers after back surgery.

However, despite his attempt to rescind the contract, citing health issues, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Joseph Lipner ruled in favor of the celebrity couple, stating: "Westcott presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked capacity into a real estate contract."

Perry's attorney, Eric Rowen, emphasized Westcott's breach of contract, stating: "Today's proposed decision is clear — the judge found that Mr. Westcott could not prove anything other than he was of perfectly sound mind when he engaged in complex negotiations over several weeks with multiple parties to transact a lucrative sale of the property that netted him a substantial profit."

He added: "The evidence shows that Mr. Westcott breached the contract for no other reason than he had changed his mind."

Following the favorable ruling, Perry has also demanded millions of dollars in lost rent from Westcott that they could have charged for the eight-bedroom home.

In his statement, Rowen emphasized, "We look forward to wrapping this matter up at the scheduled damage trial phase set for February 13 and 14, if not before."

However, in a statement to People magazine, Westcott's son, Chart Westcott, expressed acceptance of the ruling, albeit disagreeing with it. "While we do not agree with [the judge's] ruling and wish he had spelled our father's name correctly in his ruling, we accept it," he said.
