The recently released GQ "Men of the Year" list has ignited a heated debate on social media over what some are insinuating to be gender misrepresentation and marginalization.
The list, which traditionally celebrates the achievements of outstanding individuals in the year under review, has come under fire as over half of this year's honorees for the UK edition are female.
Kim Kardashian, who graced the cover of one of three US editions of the magazine, also came under fire after she took to social media to brand herself GQ's "Man of the Year."

Critics have taken to social media to voice their displeasure over the number of female honorees in the list, as some called the choice "disgraceful" and accused the media house of marginalizing men.
It comes after the publication hosted its annual UK ceremony in London on Wednesday night to unveil the list of winners from 2023, as Thursday evening will play host to the US edition of the event.
On the UK's list, 11 female stars featured for the honor out of 20. They included Simone Rocha, girl group Flo, Emily Maitlis, Bianca Saunders, Yomi Adegoke, Lucy Prebble, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Jasmine Jobson, Molly Manning Walker, Mary Earps and Jenni Hermoso.
According to The Daily Mail, the magazine didn't specify if the list was gender-based but noted that the "GQ Men of the Year celebrates stars from entertainment, fashion, and sport who have made 2023 a year to remember."

Famous reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian caused a stir on social media after branding herself the GQ "Man Of The Year" in an Instagram and Twitter post.
The SKIMS founder shared a photo of herself in an androgynous suit and tie for the cover spread of the GQ's Men Of The Year edition. She wrote in the caption, "Hi! I'm the GQ Man of the Year!" Many fans took to the comment section to express their confusion about her post.
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" alum was one of three cover stars for the US edition of the magazine. The other two cover stars were Jacob Elordi and rapper Travis Scott.
The 43-year-old reality star, who was branded Tycoon of the Year after launching SKIMS menswear, is the first woman to cover the annual edition with Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston and Scarlett Johansson also gracing previous editions.
The post has sparked controversy, with many criticizing Kardashian for appropriating a title reserved for men.
Fans Slam GQ For Its 2023 List
Fans and critics took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their thoughts on the list of honorees for this year's event. Many X users voiced their outrage and disappointment over the list being filled with female stars for a title traditionally associated with men.
One person wrote, "No one's reading GQ or US weekly, so they need this type of outrage for clicks and views. Men win Woman of the Year, and women win Men of the Year. It means nothing; they are just grasping for relevance."
Another fan tweeted, "There's only 2 genders. Men and women. I can only see a woman right here. Not a man."
"It's not funny when they replace men with women and it's not funny when women replace men," a third individual shared.
'Kim K on the cover of GQ for man of the year. Could you imagine the uproar if the tables were turned and a man was on the cover for Women of the year? Y'all had a fit with Caitlyn Jenner," wrote another X user.
Who Were The Male Stars Honored By GQ?
While the GQ Men Of The Year list has sparked controversy over its gender representation, it is worth mentioning that the list also featured several male names who have had an incredible year so far.
One of the male honorees was Rema, the Nigerian singer-songwriter who has had a stellar 2023 and garnered international acclaim for his unique blend of Afrobeats, trap, and pop music, especially with his hit song, "Calm Down."
Another male name on the list was Gary Lineker, the former English footballer turned TV presenter. Other male honorees included Jack Antonoff, Black Coffee, David Jonsson, Lev Tanju & Gareth Skewis, Malcolm Kamulete, Paapa Essiedu, and Paul Mullin.
