"Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies," Eilish said in a statement that would quickly prove controversial on social media.

"If you're muscular, cool. If you're not, cool. If you're rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you're pudgy, love it! Everybody's happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice," she continued. "They don't give a f--- because we see people for who they are!"

Following the release of the statement on the internet, numerous Twitter users expressed their disagreement, with some even going so far as to label Eilish as "tone deaf."

"This generations [sic] obsession with not only being a victim, but making sure no one else is more of a victim than them is unprecedented. How tone deaf can someone be?" wrote a user, while another tweeted, "Celebrities are so out of touch from reality its actually hilarious."

A different person asserted, "This is false and a little tone deaf; a lot of people go through criticism both as men and female and every experience is valid."

One fan remarked, "I love Billie but men receive criticism all the time for their bodies. If a guy is too fat, too short, or whatever, they are criticized by both men and women. I’m not gonna sit here and say it's as bad as what women have experienced for decades because that would be an obvious LIE and a false equivalence, but men develop body insecurities all the time because of unrealistic attractiveness standards made by society. It's just not as socially acceptable for men to speak up about it compared to when women speak up about it."

Another added, "We got a whole generation of men with serious body issues in the gym constantly, so saying this is kinda bull."

The 21-year-old Grammy winner shared her comments while expressing frustration about the media scrutiny she faces whenever she deviates from her usual attire of baggy clothes to opt for something more form-fitting or revealing.

"I have big b---s. I've had big b---s since I was nine years old, and that's just the way I am. That's how I look," said Eilish.

"You wear something that's at all revealing, and everyone’s like, 'Oh, but you didn't want people to sexualize you?'" she continued. "You can s--- my a--! I'm literally a being that is sexual sometimes. F--- you!"

Nevertheless, in the same interview, Eilish also mentioned that being sexualized doesn't bother her.

"Maybe my not really caring about being sexualized is because I've never felt desired or desirable," the singer explained.

Eilish expressed a lack of personal connection with the identity of being a woman. She candidly admitted to never having felt a sense of desirability or femininity.

"I have to convince myself that I'm, like, a pretty girl. I identify as 'she/her' and things like that, but I've never really felt like a girl," she said.

The artist known for the hit song "Ocean Eyes" had previously spoken about her frustrations regarding the experience of being sexualized. This came to light when she faced criticism for wearing a swimsuit at the age of 18.

"I saw comments like, 'How dare she talk about not wanting to be sexualized and wear this?!'" Eilish recalled to Dazed magazine in 2020. "There were comments like, 'I don’t like her anymore because as soon as she turns 18 she's a w----.' Like, dude. I can't win."

Before that interview, the singer clarified that her preference for loose clothing stemmed from the notion that she could avoid being sexualized by not showcasing her body.

"Nobody can have an opinion [on my body] because they haven't seen what's underneath," Eilish told Teen Vogue in 2019. "Nobody can be like, 'she's slim-thick,' 'she’s not slim-thick,' 'she's got a flat a--,' 'she's got a fat a--.' No one can say any of that because they don't know."
