Kodak Black and his lawyer hope to save the US some taxpayer's dollars as he moves to have his drug possession case dismissed!

The hip-hop sensation is known for making chart-topping hits, just as he is infamous for getting into trouble with the law. Last year, the "Pimpin Ain't Eazy" singer was arrested on drug possession charges after authorities reportedly discovered oxycodone pills in his car.

The media personality was charged with one count of trafficking oxycodone and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Over a year after the case broke in July 2022, the media personality is filing to have the whole legal drama thrown out.

Kodak Black Moves To Have Drug Possession Charges Tossed

The latest update from the "Roll in Peace" artist's defense team claims his drug possession case has wasted valuable time. In a motion to dismiss the court case, the entertainer's attorney, Bradford Cohen, revealed the pills in his client's possession were legal OTC medications.

The lawyer stated the suspected oxycodone pills were regular painkillers, according to new evidence. A sample of the drugs found in Black's possession was tested, with the results proving they were just Tylenol and not illegal substances.

However, Cohen claimed the drugs that underwent the test were destroyed in the process. Because the proof of the "Codeine Dreaming" rapper's innocence was lost, officials allegedly did not provide a report about the pills being over-the-counter pain medication.

The motion to dismiss Black's case, obtained by TMZ, painted the legal drama as a "coordinated takedown." The defense attorney pointed fingers at law enforcers in the Broward Sheriff's Office, accusing them of spearheading a witch hunt against his client.

Cohen named FBI Special Agent James Mitchell as the main culprit, claiming that he, alongside the Broward Sheriff's Office, were covering up their misdeeds. The legal practitioner stressed that the FBI agent was biased against Black, a sentiment prosecutors also shared by attempting to withhold valuable evidence.

The prosecutors in Black's case, according to his lawyer, tried to conceal the body cam video of a police officer surveilling the "Calling My Spirit" singer. In the footage, the law enforcer was allegedly "always ready" to attack as the camera was focused on his firearm.

The Arrest

With these new claims of a "coordinated takedown" and Tylenol pills, Cohen hopes his client's case will be immediately dismissed. As stated, the drama began in July 2022, days before Black was scheduled to perform at the Rolling Loud Festival.

Florida's Highway Patrol released a press statement about the incident, revealing their troopers had pulled over the hip-hop star's vehicle over his window tints. The entertainer's purple Dodge Durango car had tinted windows that “appeared darker than the legal limit.”

After stopping to respond to the officers, Black's vehicle raised suspicion because of a marijuana scent. In response, the troopers searched the "Super Germlin" rapper's car and discovered 31 white tablets in a small clear bag and almost $75,000 in cash. The tablets were eventually allegedly identified as oxycodone.

The discovered drug is mainly prescribed as a severe pain medication, and it is highly addictive. Further investigation revealed Black's vehicle tag and driver’s license were expired, leading to the media personality's booking at the Fort Lauderdale jail in Florida.

Before landing in his current legal debacle, the "Usain Boo" singer's troubles took a scary turn in early 2022 after the rapper was shot outside a restaurant. The harrowing incident occurred months prior to Black's drug possession charges following a Justin Bieber concert.

The former teen idol held an after-party to commemorate his successful show, but the celebrations did not go as planned for Black. According to a statement from the L.A.P.D., the shooting occurred due to a fight between several individuals outside a restaurant.

At 2:45 a.m. local time, “multiple rounds were fired,” and four individuals were injured during the skirmish. Authorities did not share the victims' identities, but sources confirmed the "Mopstick" artist was on the list. Two individuals were discovered at the crime scene and moved to local hospitals for treatment.

On the other hand, the remaining two victims found their way to the hospital, but overall, none of the injured had life-threatening wounds and were in stable medical conditions. At the time of their statement, the L.A.P.D. had not arrested the suspected shooter but noted it was a black male.

Two days after the incident, Black was spotted leaving the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The hip-hop star used a walker to get to his car, a black SUV, before he was assisted inside by several people.
