Michael Strahan Replaced On GMA Amid Attention To ‘Personal Family Matters’

It has been two weeks already and Michael Strahan is still missing from his hosting duties on "Good Morning America!"
The former National Football League star has been absent from the "GMA" screen due to attending to a "personal family matter." In his absence, ABC anchor Linsey Davis has been stepping in alongside regular hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
Linsey Davis Warming Michael Strahan's Seat Amid His Prolonged Hosting Absence
Longtime fans of Michael are familiar with his bond with his beloved family, including his four kids — Tanita, Michael Jr., and twins Sophia and Isabella. Thus, it came as no surprise that he'd opt to miss weeks of work and social media updates to focus on a matter about them.
To that end, the footballer-turned-television personality's on-screen absence was announced in a statement issued by an ABC spokesperson. The statement read:
"Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and concerns."
During the father of four's absence, Linsey has frequently substituted for him, teaming up with Rebecca Jarvis. Amid being away from "GMA" and maintaining a low profile on Instagram, with his last post being on October 25, Michael did return to Fox's pregame show, Fox NFL Sunday, for Week 10 after missing Weeks 8 and 9 this weekend.
With his resumption to that hosting job, it's likely he might return to "GMA" on Tuesday, as he typically doesn't work on Mondays during football season due to his filming obligations for Fox.
While he’s remained tight-lipped on the current situation, the former New York Giants player had previously made airwaves when he held a touching conversation with football safety Damar Hamlin following the latter’s nearly fatal in-game collapse earlier this year.
Football enthusiasts would recall that Damar had suffered a cardiac arrest during a Week 17 Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. His recovery was nothing short of miraculous and he spoke about it a month later with Michael. As noted by The Blast, the 25-year-old had said:
"That just kinda put things in perspective for me, you know, hearing it from the doctor. Things could have gone differently and the details of the situation of everything that happened on the field — it could have been — it could have been the last of me."
The Buffalo Bills player added, "I'm just thankful [God] gave me a second chance, you know, just to live normally and just come out almost without a scratch on me," Hamlin told Strahan in the interview. "Just to be able to keep going."
Michael Showed Up For United States Veterans This Past Weekend
As for his Sunday appearance, Michael had joined his Fox NFL colleagues for Sunday's show for a special Veterans Day weekend broadcast dedicated to honoring veterans.
The live broadcast took place at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in El Paso County, Colorado, and featured a number of inspirational stories about serving in the military.
During the event, multiple people, such as US Marine veteran Sarah Rudder, highlighted several inspiring stories centered around military service. The veteran moved the crowd as she shared her journey about overcoming a life-changing injury to pursue a career as a para-athlete.
Similarly, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich also reflected on how his time in the Air Force influenced his life. Additionally, Fox Sports presenter Jay Glazer paid tribute to veterans during Sunday's show.
"You are loyalty, you are bravery, you are courage. Every one of you has a hero inside of you," the Fox NFL Sunday informed a group at the Air Force Academy.
