All hopes of seeing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at King Charles' 75th birthday celebration have been dashed with a recent report claiming that any mention of the duo's names has been banned at the upcoming ceremony.
This revelation comes amid a fresh row between the Sussexes and the royal family, with the former shutting down a rumor that they snubbed an invite to the King's birthday bash.
Harry & Meghan's Names Banned From Being Mentioned
According to a report by Express, any mention of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's names has been banned from two of King Charles III's birthday celebrations.
Sources shared with the news outlet that aides are scared that the "dreaded H or M" words will come up during discussions in front of King Charles, and for this reason, household members have been "quietly" told not to speak of them.
"Not only will the King hold a lavish reception at Clarence House on November 14, but he will also make an appearance at a charity event at Highgrove a day earlier," the source stated. "It has been made very clear that Sussex discussions are firmly off the table at both events."
King Charles Does Not Want To Be 'Overshadowed' By 'Unmentionables' On His Day
King Charles is reportedly determined to celebrate his birthday without any interruptions.
The celebration comes amid a busy month, as he recently paid a visit to Kenya, followed by the State Parliament, where he delivered his first-ever King's speech.
"The King has a busy few days between November 12 and 15,” the source told Express. “It will involve a lot of back and forth between London and Gloucestershire, but he’s determined to celebrate his 75th birthday without any interruptions."
The insider added, "He doesn’t want the day to be overshadowed by people who aren’t there - the unmentionables as staff now call them."
With two parties being set up for the King, the source noted, "The foundation event was originally planned for Dumfries House, but the King was keen to have a secondary event placed upon his doorstep at Highgrove so that he could join in the celebrations."
They added, "Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed just yet, the King has an appearance at Highgrove pencilled in his diary."
Meghan & Harry Did Not Get An Invite To The Birthday Party
According to the Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan's spokesperson stated that Buckingham Palace did not extend an invitation to the King's 75th birthday party.
A previous report by The Sunday Times claimed that the Duke and Duchess declined an invitation and would remain in their home in California. But the Sussexes’ spokesperson slammed this information, stating that the pair had "no contact" with the palace regarding an invite.
“There has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday. It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story," the spokesperson said.
A source also told the outlet that Harry and Meghan did not receive invitations to attend the party for King Charles in London.
“They had not received any invitation and were unaware of any celebrations until the stories came out. I’m sure the Duke will find a way to reach out privately to wish His Majesty a happy birthday like he has always done,” the insider stated.
Did The Palace Leak The Harry & Meghan 'Snubbing' Story?
A friend close to Harry and Meghan suggested that Buckingham Palace might have intentionally leaked the “snubbing” story to distract from King Charles' recent royal visit to Kenya, where he faced calls to apologize for Britain’s history of colonialism.
The friend said, “The story is being positioned in a way to make it look like the Duke is snubbing his father, which he is not. Considering the trip [to Kenya] didn't go well, this might be a welcome distraction.”
Another friend also added that the Sussexes would have normally been part of plans for significant UK events despite their growing separation from royal family members.
“The story in The Times, as well as subsequent stories have been positioned in a way to make it look like the Duke is snubbing his father, which he is not,” the friend stated, per Daily Mail.
Amid all the birthday drama, Harry and Meghan have been keep busy, with the duo recently making an appearance at a Navy SEALs event.
