The wedding planner battling Beyoncé over trademarking “Blue Ivy” is accusing the pop star of lying about her making a $10 million proposal to the singer, which she claims led to her being labeled a blackmailer in the press.
As The Blast first reported, the singer accused a woman by the name of Veronica Morales of attempting to sell Bey her business in exchange for Morales dropping her opposition to Bey’s trademark request. Bey claimed Morales’ lawyer set the price tag for the acquisition at a minimum of $10 million dollars — she declined.
In a new filing obtained by The Blast, Morales takes exception to the accusation she tried to shake Bey down. She says she is simply a mother of two “working to support her family with a celebrated event planning business, facing a growing onslaught of falsehoods and public humiliation by the attorneys and organizations of one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in the world Beyonce Knowles-Carter.”
Morales says for Beyonce to now accuse her of opposing the singer’s trademark in bad faith is an attempt to “deflect to Morales the very abhorrent methods that Ms. Carter herself and her attorneys have pursued in this case from the onset.”
She accuses Beyoncé and her lawyers of lying about her offering to sell her event planning business to the pop star for $10 million dollars. Moreales is adamant there was never a $10 million-dollar deal on the table.
In the court documents, Morales claims the false statement has been repeated and publicized throughout the country, depicting her as an irrational blackmailer, when in fact, she is a woman operating a business, defending her rights and working hard every day to support her family.
The case is ongoing.
