Whoopi Goldberg SLAMS Millennial Work Ethic, Says Her Generation 'Busted Our Behinds'

Acclaimed actress and TV personality Whoopi Goldberg, 67, expressed her concerns about the work ethic of millennials who put in a meager amount of work yet have lofty goals and aspirations.

Goldberg, a baby boomer with an estimated fortune of $85 million, criticized the younger generation for their perceived entitlement and lack of dedication to their careers, eulogizing her generation for busting "our behinds" to get "all kinds of stuff."

During a tense session on Wednesday's episode of "The View," Goldberg had charged words for many millennials with unrealistic expectations regarding work hours and rewards. 

Her assertion came in response to co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin's claims of her generation being "the generation of the housing crisis, financial crisis, and 9/11."

Griffin, a millennial herself at age 34, lamented that her generation had "been in war" all through and that almost half of them "are living with their parents," adding that the millennial's "American dream is different."

"On having kids specifically, I get it. Most of my friends, if they're not married by a certain age, they're not owning homes at the same rate, and you don't want to have kids if you don't feel like you can provide that," Griffin continued, advising millennials to consider "freezing your eggs" if finances were the reason they were holding off on having kids.

In response, Goldberg retorted, saying, "But, I'm sorry, if you only want to work four hours, it's going to be harder for you to get a house."

She added, per Daily Mail, "I feel for everybody that feels this, but I'm sorry, we busted our behinds. We had to bust our behinds because we didn't have the option of going back. We had all kinds of stuff."

Elsewhere during their conversation, Griffin concurred with Goldberg's claims yet defended millennials, noting that they are "statistically the first generation that's likely to be worse off than their parents."

The "Sister Act" star objected, saying, "That's what they said to us as well. Every generation is told you're going to do worse than your parents."

She even refuted Griffin's claims at some point, noting that "every generation comes and wants to do better than their parents did."

Goldberg went on to charge millennials, saying, "People pick it up, and they do what they do, and they raise themselves. And this is what you've got to do. It's called being a good citizen."

Also, on the show, Goldberg shared a personal story about her health. She opened up about her diagnosis of endometriosis 40 years ago and the complications that arose from the condition, per the Daily Mail.

Goldberg was joined by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and filmmaker Shannon Cohn during a discussion on women's health where light was shed on Cohn's new documentary, "Below The Belt," which is about endometriosis.

Goldberg recounted a challenging experience when she developed a urinary tract infection that "looked like cottage cheese." She described the infection as "gross" and expressed her frustration at the lack of understanding about endometriosis at the time.

While speaking on Cohn's new documentary, she said, "When I saw this documentary, and I heard that it takes them six to ten years to even get the diagnosis, I don't understand that. What are they doing in medical school?!"

"It drives me berserk that we're still having to beg for health care. We pay taxes; women pay taxes! I don't understand why when doctors go to school forever, they're not taught about a woman's body!" she lamented.

Goldberg, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro recently took aim at Ivanka Trump, daughter of former President Donald Trump, for her attempt to delay her testimony in her father's trial.

The controversy arose as Ivanka earlier sought to postpone her scheduled testimony because of "childcare issues" as it fell in the middle of a school week. 

Following that, during a segment on her talk show, "The View," Goldberg mocked Ivanka's actions, claiming that testifying in her father's $250 million trial would cause "undue hardship."

"A judge did not buy Ivanka's claim that she couldn't come to New York because of 'child care issues,'" she sarcastically said. "The judge was like, 'I don't think that's going to fly, babe.'"

Ivanka testified on Tuesday, November 8, following her siblings, Donald Jr. and Eric, who had taken the stand earlier.
