'Selling Sunset' Mary Fitzgerald Opens Up About Trying Again After Miscarriage

Mary Fitzgerald has had to relive her experience with miscarriage after season seven of "Selling Sunset."

After days of all the feelings coming back, the actress got candid about her and her husband Romain Bonnet's current efforts to make babies and how she is handling the difficult miscarriage. Fitzgerald and Bonnet said "I Do" in a secret civil wedding five years ago, right before filming commenced for the hit Netflix series, and have waxed stronger since then.

Fitzgerald gave a quick update about how she and Bonnet are navigating life post-miscarriage as she spoke about the 7th season of her Netflix show "Selling Sunset" and the painful memories she now has to relieve.

"It's not my favorite season by far. I think it was a good season, just for me personally, not so much. Just reliving everything isn't the easiest thing to do, but it's where we are." the actress shared. On her recent miscarriage, she said:

"Well, I thought we were doing better, you know, just healed a bit more. But it's tough just to re-watch and relive all those emotions. It's not an easy thing to do."

She shared the heartbreaking news in an Instagram video in March and added that she and Bonnet had gone to Bali and gotten pregnant, but things did not work out as planned. Fitzgerald disclosed that she had to go in for surgery following the development of an infection in her uterus and added:

"So, I had to go in for surgery for that. I guess the only reason why I've been silent for a long time, and the reason why I'm speaking out now, is because I do realize how common this is and how many people go through this."

The "Cougar Town" actress, however, expressed her desire to try for another pregnancy and shared that she went in for an MRI after the septic miscarriage, which led to spotting an abnormality with her uterus. Explaining further, the reality star said:

"It's called a unicornuate uterus, and it's going to make things more complicated. I still am able to carry because I had my son, but it's going to make things more complicated, so we have to look into that."

According to ET, the actress shared that her older son Austin is excited at the idea of having a sibling and added:

"I think he kind of likes the idea, but it doesn't really affect him that much. He lives, well, he's actually in Dubai right now. He's in the military and is stationed over in Dubai for six months, and then he'll be back in Nevada after that."

The enviable couple met while checking out homes. According to the actress, "Romain flew out to look at some home and I (Fitzgerald) was his agent." Fitzgerald continued that they hit it off on the spot, and it also coincided with his relocation to L.A., where she lived at that time.

Despite the 12-year difference between the love birds, the pair took their romance a step further by tying the knot in a lowkey ceremony in March 2018. In fact, the couple were already married before Bonnet got down on one knee at the end of the first season of "Selling Sunset," but kept things under wraps. According to their reps: 

"They chose not to tell any of their friends or family, as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term. In their minds, they weren't properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show."

By February 2019, the newly married couple flew to France to meet Bonnet's family. He then replaced the moissanite engagement ring he initially gave the actress with a real diamond in April of the same year. They also held a more elaborate wedding on October 12, 2019, which they both described as "amazing."

Fitzgerald and Bonnet became new homeowners in January 2021. In December 2022, the actress shared that they were getting ready to freeze their embryos as they did not want to miss out on any opportunity to have babies in the future.

However, by December 2022, US Weekly shared that the couple opted to try naturally as they did not get to finalize freezing their embryos. "We did a round of embryo freezing, it didn't work. But I think on [Selling Sunset] season 6, you'll see why, what happened. We didn't get to finish that one, so now we're just kind of just trying naturally," said the mother-of-one.
