The 'Cruel Intentions' actress dated Matthew Perry a long time ago, but they remained friends for 30+ years, noting that Perry “meant so much to me.”
Following Perry's death, fans have been paying tribute to the late actor in many ways, including by building a memorial outside of the 'Friends' apartment, and even rewatching the sitcom, bringing it to the top-streamed show last week. In regard to all of the love pouring in for Perry, Blair admitted is wonderful to see.
“I love it. I know Matthew really loved touching people and his comedy was therapy," she told ET. "That show, ['Friends'] it was beloved because we could get into shows like that on prime time and create a family… I love that it affects everyone and that it’s good to grieve… We realize how precious things are when we have the dark seasons.”
As we previously reported, police responded to a 911 call on October 28 to assist with a possible ‘water rescue’ at Matthew Perry’s Pacific Palisades home. When the first responders arrived, they reportedly found the 54-year-old “Friends” actor in his hot tub, unresponsive.
Perry is believed to have drowned, but an autopsy and toxicology reports will be able to answer more questions about his true cause of death.
“In this information age, we’ve realized that we can wear our heart on our sleeves. We can wear the name of our heroes, mentors, and I think this connected energy is important to all of us,” Blair told ET in regard to how much of an impact Matthew Perry had on the world.
