How Does Patrick Dempsey Feel About Being PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive?

Patrick Dempsey's "McDreamy" days are far from over as the Hollywood hunk scores this year's title of PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive!

The veteran actor is no stranger to making fans swoon with his good looks, gathering a legion of admirers during his days on the medical series "Grey's Anatomy." At 57, the TV personality successfully beat his younger colleagues to become the sexiest man alive, and his reaction to the honor is too cute for words!

The "Sweet Home Alabama" actor, who doubles as a racecar driver, recently added a new title to his resume thanks to the annual PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive honor. After Chris Evans earned the prestigious spot in 2022, many wondered what celebrity would succeed the beloved actor behind Captain America.

While most suspected an actor around the same age as Evans, the media outlet shocked fans by honoring Dempsey as their newest sexiest man alive. Naturally, the Teen Choice Award nominee was touched by the homage, describing the title as an ego booster.

When asked, "What's it like being the sexiest man alive?" the 57-year-old could not contain his smile. His eyes radiated happiness behind his glasses, and his cheeks were flushed pink as he gushed about his latest achievement in an Instagram video. The entertainer said:

"It's great. It's fun, and it's a tremendous honor, you know. It's good for your ego and certainly at my age it's really fun. I'm loving it."

Dempsey was not the only one enjoying the honor as his longtime wife, Jillian Fink, paid tribute to the motorsports driver on her Instagram page. The makeup artist shared a video compilation of her husband's big reveal as PEOPLE'S Sexiest Man Alive on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show alongside shots of her beau looking dapper in a suit.

The media personality sweetly captioned the post: "Well, the cat's out of the bag for 2023 @people's # SexiestManAlive, and my hubz is on the cover! Love being part of this insanely fun ride with you @patrickdempsey. What a title! You are truly my sexiest man alive."

Additionally, Jillian noted she had actively supported her lover's big moment by grooming him using some of her beauty products. As stated, Dempsey was revealed as this year's Sexiest Man Alive on the latest episode of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show.

In the November 7 episode, the Hollywood hunk was projected onto the stage using Proto hologram technology. However, his identity was hidden behind a lizard's head and a voice filter while the audience tried to guess who the mystery man was.

Following Dempsey's unveiling, the 57-year-old sat down with Kimmel to address his new title. "I'm just happy they made a decision, and it was me this year," the father of three chimed. Additionally, the Golden Globe Award nominee described his preparations for the cover as a "sacrifice" because he fasted and hit the gym to have that picture-perfect body.

Patrick and Jillian Dempsey are undoubtedly one of the best love stories in Hollywood. Like the "Bridget Jones's Baby" actor, his wife is a notable figure in the entertainment industry, making a name for herself as a hairstylist and makeup artist since the early '90s.

She ran a successful Los Angeles hair salon before selling the shop in 1998 and created a signature lip gloss for the "Charlie's Angels" cast per PEOPLE. The media personality's achievements did not end there, as her products were used in the 2002 movie  "Sweet Home Alabama."

Over the years, the Hollywood heartthrob's wife has worked with A-list clientele, including the actresses Kristen Stewart, Kate Winslet, Emma Roberts, and more. Jillian has also launched two makeup brands, and in 2007, she became the first Global Creative Color Director for Avon.

As for her romance with Patrick, the pair met at the stylist's hair salon. Jillian once recalled that she was pleasantly surprised when the entertainer patronized her business; however, the duo were in relationships at the time. Things turned romantic in 1997 with the couple's first date at the actor's house.

Three months after sharing a homecooked meal, Jillian moved in with the "Valentine's Day" star. After two years of dating, the lovebirds said their vows in 1999 in an intimate farmhouse wedding at the Dempseys' family property in Maine.

They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Talula Fyfe, in 2002, followed by twin sons Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen, who were born in 2007. Patrick and Jillian nearly ended their marriage in 2015 but survived the rocky incident to celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary in July 2023.
