Britney Spears Wants To Explain Why Sam Asghari Marriage 'Broke Down' In Second Book

Although Britney Spears had nothing but praise for actor Sam Asghari in her first memoir, "The Woman In Me," it looks like he might not come out so clean in her next book.

Last week, the 41-year-old pop star took to Instagram to reveal that she has a second book planned for next year following the success of her tell-all memoir, which was released on Tuesday, October 24 and has already sold over a million copies. Although she deleted the post, fans are hopeful that they will get more answers revealing why the longtime couple's six-year relationship came to an end.

Even though some fans are hoping that Britney will rake Sam over the coals for leaving her after only fourteen months of marriage, it looks like the "Toxic" singer has no plans to talk badly about her ex.

"Britney’s not looking to go after Sam,” a source told Us Weekly. “She just wants [to talk about] why the relationship broke down."

In her memoir, Britney called the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor a "gift from God" and said that she was "giddy" with the thought of starting a family with him. Unfortunately, the pop star shared that she suffered a miscarriage only a few months before they tied the knot in May 2022.

“I have an appreciation for how stable he is. I love that he doesn’t even drink,” she wrote in one part of the book. “I knew I wanted him in my life immediately. The chemistry with us in the beginning was insane. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other.”

A day after her book was released, Sam was asked how he felt about her memoir. “I’m freakin’ proud of her, and I hope she takes over the world,” he said, as per Page Six. When asked about the part where she called him a “gift from God,” Sam added, “That made me smile, to be honest.”

However, some fans have taken to social media to express their frustration that Sam only filed for divorce after she had already signed off on the final draft of the manuscript so she was unable to share information about the divorce in "The Woman In Me."

The former couple met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016 and start dating soon after. Sam popped the question in September 2021, only two months before her controversial 13-year conservatorship was struck down by a judge in November 2021. The two tied the knot in a star-studded wedding at her Thousand Oaks estate in Los Angeles, California, in June 2022, but it wasn't long before there were rumors of marital trouble.

The 29-year-old actor filed for divorce from the 41-year-old pop star on August 16, 2023, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. The actor has come under fire for requesting spousal support in his legal filing, even after Britney's lawyer Mathew Rosengart hired a family lawyer to draft an airtight prenup.

A few days after news of the divorce made headlines, the Princess of Pop broke her silence on the divorce with a lengthy statement left in the caption of a video that featured her dancing in her living room.

"As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!" she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post at the time. "But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!"

She went on to say, "I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!! I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!! If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!!"

"But that’s when I needed family the most !!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!!" she continued, concluding, "So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty d--- good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”
