She recently shared some throwback photos on her Instagram Stories.
Vanessa Marcil Shared A Tribute To Tyler Christopher On Social Media
Marcil, 55, and Christopher dated in the late 90s and were engaged for a brief time. The two were also costars on the popular soap opera "General Hospital." Christopher went on to marry actress Eva Longoria in 2002 but split two years later.
Marcil shared a series of Instagram Stories as a tribute to Christopher after he died from cardiac arrest at the age of 50 on Tuesday.
One Story is captioned, "Ugh, another loss! Waaaay too young." Another was simply captioned, "Rest in power my love."
Another Story shared was a screenshot of a comment Christopher made on a post about his 40th and 50th birthdays.
"I have fond memories of celebrating my 40th birthday at The Little Beach House in Malibu surrounded by friends," the comment begins. "In the decade since then my daughter was born, I won an Emmy, was the lead actor in 4 television shows, completed a dozen movies, lived in a half dozen states, relapsed and recovered, survived a traumatic brain injury and pandemic, became single again, lost some friends and family, found my savior, embraced God's will for me, and learned to be content living a quieter life."
The comment went on to talk about his 50th birthday,
"To those who did not think I would make it to 50 I will share my favorite poem 'I am the master of my fate. I am the Captain of my soul,'" he wrote. "The best is yet to come."
Tyler Christopher Met With Fans One Month Before His Death
Just a month ago, Christopher held a special meet and greet with fans in New York City, where he opened up about his struggles with addiction.
Superfan Joanne Morrissey told PEOPLE that he "put his whole life on the line" discussing how his alcoholism affected his relationship with his kids.
"He talked a lot about them, so in this particular instance, when I asked him, he explained that he tried to see them," she told PEOPLE. "I think he said once a month he tried to go visit them...but you know he had to do it over a three-day period."
According to Morrissey, the actor shared that he saw his son, Greysun, 14, and daughter, Boheme, 8, about eight months ago, and that his last attempt at visiting them didn't go as planned. He revealed to his fans that he rented an Airbnb in preparation for their visit but ended up "passing out on the couch" which led the kids to leave with their mother, ex-wife Brienne Pedigo. It wasn't until the next day that he realized that he had missed his time with them.
"His son took it extremely, extremely hard," Morrissey said. "And I could sense, and I could tell from the way he was describing that he had a really hard time forgiving himself for that."
That experience helped Christopher to "really make some serious changes to his life" so he would be able to see his kids.
"His kids were now his priority," Morrissey continued. "He was going to get sober, as difficult as it was, and stay sober so that he could see his kids again."
At this point, at the end of September, he was "six weeks sober." He told his fans at the meet and greet that he was going to see his kids on October 15.
