A couple claim Ed Norton's production company lied about the status of a fire as it ripped through an apartment complex in New York, and as a result they lost everything.
Erica and George Cruz filed suit against Norton's Class 5 productions, which was shooting "Motherless Brooklyn" at her apartment building.
The Cruz's say the production company "maintained certain equipment, including highly flammable equipment in the basement," and on the night of March 22 describes the fire that broke out in the basement.
They say that when reps from Class 5 became aware of the fire, "They did not warn the tenants in the building; in fact, they misled the tenants into believing there had been a fire that had been extinguished."
As a result of the fire, which claimed the life of a firefighter, the Cruz's say their apartment was completely destroyed. They are suing for $7 million.

Norton is not named personally in the suit, and has already released a statement on the fire. He claims the production was shooting in another room in the apartment building when the fire broke out in the basement, and says that if it was not for the quick action of the production crew, he believes "the residents of the building would have perished."
The funeral for the firefighter that died was held Tuesday in New York.
