On October 28, Matthew Perry was pronounced dead after he was found unresponsive in his hot tub by his assistant in his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles, California.

In the week leading up to his death, the "Friends" actor published seven Instagram posts, all of them referring to the comic book character Batman. In each of the posts, he also called himself "Mattman," which is an amalgamation of his first name and Batman. Following his passing, the posts have come under scrutiny, with many people believing he may have been passing a deeper message through them.

Matthew Perry's Death Was Eerily Foreseen By Some Social Media Users

Fans have begun submitting their conspiracy theories about the passing of Perry, who is said to have died of an apparent drowning in his jacuzzi.

With this in mind, there's been growing attention toward one of his most recent videos, ultimately culminating in people linking his death to it. In the clip, a hand is seen placing what appears to be three cranberries on a table alongside the caption, "This is what I've had to eat today. I'm Mattman."

Although a simple and straightforward post, an X user quickly noted that the berries in the "Serving Sara" actor's post, initially believed to be cranberries, were actually baneberries. Baneberries are a type of poisonous berry, and if ingested, they can be fatal.

"Bane, the villain, who beats Batman! 'BAT>>> signal for death. Those aren't cranberries. They are baneberries and deadly toxic, if he ate those then that's why he had a cardiac arrest, they are untraceable through autopsy'  liftingtheveilx2," the words above two images read.

While one image contained a screenshot of the video from Perry, the other was a screenshot of the answer to the question, "Can humans eat baneberries?" It read, "When ingested, the berries have an almost immediate sedative effect on the human heart and can lead to cardiac arrest if enough are consumed."

The screenshot reappeared in a TikTok clip that came with the caption, "what were they really?? cranberries, grapes, or BANEBERRIES." It opened with the footage and caption from Perry before zooming into the "cardiac arrest" part of the Google search page and revealing that consumption of the berries resulted in side effects like burning of mouth and throat, severe stomach cramps, dizziness and hallucinations amongst others.

The footage also showcased snippets of Perry's other Instagram posts including the ones that seemed like he was sending a symbolic "bat signal," a cry for help or support. While the sentiment was held by a few people who camped out in the comments of the original post, others had an eerie foreboding of what was in the cards for the "17 Again" performer.

A fourth viewer added, "River left us far too soon, u don't have to, people may not "be surprised" but they will be heartbroken." The comments, which were submitted some days before Perry died, rightly put fear in people.

Sick of it all, this Instagram user admonished, "Can everybody stop making conspiracy theories about everything... people are born and die every day... it's not because people are famous that they are immortal... Rip Matthew Perry enjoyed seeing you in Friends."

Concerns About The Champion of Recovery Award Winner Began Earlier

The Blast reported on the other controversial updates, including that on October 17, the "Almost Heroes" screen god shared a video on Instagram featuring a preview screen of Robert Pattinson's "The Batman." In the caption, he wrote, "No need to worry everybody; I've got the streets tonight."

Two days later, the American-Canadian superstar uploaded an image of a huge bat logo displayed in red light on a ceiling wall. The post's caption read, "Sleep well everybody, I've got the city tonight -Mattman."

A third post showcased a photo with the message: "Batman plays Pickleball." Perry captioned it with "WTF." Later in the comment section, he expressed, "Rest easy. I'm on a tall building."
