Resurfaced Clip Shows Sophie Turner Once Had The Hots For Matthew Perry

Sophie Turner's longtime crush, Matthew Perry, recently passed away amid her tumultuous parting from estranged husband Joe Jonas.

The Hollywood veteran best known for his iconic performance as Chandler Bing on the NBC sitcom "Friends" took his final breath on Saturday, October 28. As the world mourns the entertainer's shocking demise, a resurfaced clip reveals Turner wanted to date the late TV personality four years ago.

The "Game Of Thrones" star's adorable crush on the older actor was revealed during her 2019 appearance on Twitter, now known as X, #BehindTheTweets series. In the June 7 episode, Turner reflected on some of her most hilarious tweets, including her excited message about the deceased working in her neighborhood.

"Holy balls. Chanandler Bong himself is rehearsing his play right next to my home," the blonde beauty had written at the time, referencing Perry's character on "Friends." Recalling the behind-the-scenes details of this tweet, the 27-year-old confessed the quirky moniker stemmed from her efforts to catch the late actor's eye.

"I would walk around the corner every day to go to my local Budgens, which is a great little supermarket. And I would walk around the corner every day, and I would see Matthew Perry outside smoking a cigarette," the mother of two explained, adding that she tried to have a romantic encounter with the Williamstown native.

"And I bought a lighter from Budgens so that I could walk up to him and offer to light his cigarette. And it was already lit, so that was just embarrassing," Turner lamented before admitting she had a crush on the older actor. In the England sensation's words:

"But yeah, he was there, and I thought he might see this tweet and then, I don't know, reach out to me and ask me on a date or something. But he didn't."

While the "Dark Phoenix" actress' attempt to date Perry failed, she found love again ten months later with the Jonas Brothers band member. However, the former couple's romance ended a month before the "Mr. Sunshine" star's death.

The Hollywood veteran passed away over the weekend in his Los Angeles home after playing a 2-hour game of pickleball. During this period, Perry sent his assistant on an errand, but the rep returned to find the "Go On" actor unresponsive in his jacuzzi and swiftly called 911.

First responders allegedly discovered multiple prescription medications, including antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications. Additionally, a COPD drug, commonly prescribed for individuals with chronic respiratory conditions such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, was found and could be a consequence of Perry's history as a smoker.

Fortunately, there were no hard drugs among the late entertainer's mediations, but the verdict remained unclear until the coroner tested the deceased's blood. The initial reports of Perry's death stated he died from drowning in his jacuzzi, while the autopsy document labeled his cause of death as “deferred” pending toxicology results.

Weeks before Perry's demise, Jonas and Turner made headway in their separation with a mutual decision to settle their differences away from the public's eye. The court documents obtained by The Blast revealed the pair had chosen to mediate in private following their successful child custody agreement in New York.

The former couple's agreement noted that the pair would “continue to pursue an amicable resolution of all issues in this matter.” As part of their settlement, the "Cake By The Ocean" singer will file a notice of dismissal for claims related to parenting, and the pair agreed to dismiss their Miami court case.

Regarding their child custody settlement, the agreement will be finalized next year in January. Until then, the entertainers agreed to share their two daughters — Willa and Delphine —  during the holidays, with Turner having the girls from October 9 to October 21.

While the children are in her custody, the England sensation can bring them to the UK or wherever she desires within the US. However, the "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress must transfer the girls to Jonas's custody on October 21 in NYC. Then, the Disney alum can spend quality time with his daughters until November 2.
