Matthew Perry's family is speaking out about the 54-year-old's 'tragic' death.
The actor, who was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the sitcom, "Friends," family is breaking their silence following the devastating news.
Matthew Perry's Family Releases Statement Following His Death
The Perry Family spoke out, stating, "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother," the family says. "Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend."
Perry was reportedly discovered on Saturday evening, in his jacuzzi, which made many speculate he could have relapsed. At this time, the cause of death is believed to be drowning.
"You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love," they added.
While promoting his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” the 54-year-old actor spoke out on how he wanted to be remembered whenever the time. “[I want to be remembered] as a guy who lived life, loved well, lived well, and helped people. That running into me was a good thing and not something bad.”
Police officials said that they initially believed that they were attending a possible ‘water rescue’ at Perry’s Pacific Palisades home after a call came in at 4:07 p.m. PST Saturday.
When the first responders arrived, they found the 54-year-old “Friends” actor in his hot tub, unresponsive. He is believed to have drowned, but the autopsy will be able to answer more questions about his true cause of death.
Fans have been speaking out regarding the tragic news, expressing how much Perry, and his 'Friends' character meant to them.
Morgan Fairchild, who portrayed Chandler Bing’s mom on the sitcom, spoke out on social media, writing, “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my “son”, Matthew Perry."
She added, "The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I’m sending love & condolences to his friends & family, especially his dad, John Bennett Perry, who I worked with on Flamingo Road & Falcon Crest."
Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s on-again, off-again love interest, Janice, on the hit sitcom, also broke her silence regarding the devastating news of Perry’s passing. “What a loss. The world will miss you Mathew Perry,” Wheeler wrote before adding, “The joy you brought to so many in your too-short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we share. ♥️”
The main cast, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt Le Blanc, and Lisa Kudrow, have yet to speak out on Perry's passing.
Warner Bros. Breaks Silence On Mattew Perry's Death
The official ‘Friends’ and Warner Bros. social media accounts also posted about the news, writing: “We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.”
An autopsy has officially been scheduled for Matthew Perry, following his tragic death on Saturday evening, according to court documents, The Blast previously reported.
