An autopsy has officially been scheduled for Matthew Perry, following his tragic death on Saturday evening, according to new court documents.
Police officials previously told CNN that they initially believed that they were attending a possible ‘water rescue’ at Perry’s Pacific Palisades home after a call came in at 4:07 p.m. PST Saturday.
When the police arrived, they found the 54-year-old “Friends” actor in his hot tub, unresponsive. He is believed to have drowned, but the autopsy will be able to answer more questions about his true cause of death.
Matthew Perry's Autopsy Has Been Scheduled
Per official documents, Matthew Perry's autopsy has been scheduled, and more questions are expected to be answered once it is completed. Many have been speculating that Perry could have had drugs or alcohol in his system as he previously battled with addiction, though the "Friends" star did state he has been clean for quite some time.
Prescription anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications were reportedly found in Matthew Perry‘s home following his tragic death on Saturday evening, although sources say that no illegal narcotics were discovered at the scene.
During his time on the hit sitcom, the actor, who portrayed Chandler Bing on the show, struggled with addiction, which he hid from a lot of people, including his costars.
He opened up about that time in his life in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.”
“[I was] at the height of my highest point in ‘Friends’, the highest point in my career, the iconic moment on the iconic show,” the actor explained in an interview when promoting his memoir last year. “When you’re a drug addict, it’s all math. I wasn’t doing it to feel high or to feel good. I certainly wasn’t a partyer; I just wanted to sit on my couch, take five Vicodin, and watch a movie. That was heaven for me. It no longer is.”

The “Friends” actor posted to social media just six days ago, sharing an image that appeared to be from the actual jacuzzi he was found in, with an eerie caption. “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman,” Perry wrote.
The photo was snapped at night, obscuring some details from the scene. The silhouette of Perry's body is visible and he appears to be wearing headphones. A crescent moon can be seen in the night sky and bubbles can be seen rising out of the hot tub.

One user, who was a huge fan of Perry’s character, Chandler Bing, on the sitcom “Friends”, commented, “REST IN PEACE. By far my favorite actor.
