President Donald Trump is not attending the 2018 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“Nerd Prom,” as it is affectionately called, is like the Oscars for the beltway crowd and gives a rare opportunity for the President and the WH press corps to let their hair down and crack some jokes. (Also, it’s a charitable event.) However, The Donald is not on board with the tradition.
The White House Correspondents’ Association tweeted out a statement today explaining that the annual dinner is a hard pass for the Pres for the second year in a row. But don’t worry, there will be someone there representing the Oval … Sarah Sanders will stand in for Trump.

Comedian Michelle Wolf is hosting the event from the Washington Hilton, which is where it usually held. Sadly, what is usually a hysterical glitzy affair is expected to be a bit less so this year since the president is the guest of honor, after all.
Last year’s Trump-less dinner didn’t boast the typical A-listers or the usual parties.
Maybe they should try it at a Trump hotel next year?
