Kylie Jenner’s life has been filled with beauty.

Growing up in the public eye since the age of 9, she’s always had an eye for fashion and beauty, according to her mom, Kris Jenner. Kylie credits her daughter Stormi, 5, for learning more about herself and transforming her ideas around beauty standards saying she is now, “embracing natural beauty.”

The mom of two recently launched her new fashion line, Khy saying that “the whole line is really inspired by my personal wardrobe, and the different moods that I’m in.”

Having a daughter has helped to teach Kylie more about herself and has changed the way she looks at things. She’s even making it a point to teach Stormi about the beauty mistakes she’s made in her life in the hopes that she will always know that “she’s just perfect exactly how she is.”

“My daughter has totally taught me a lot more about myself, and seeing myself in her has changed everything. I’ve had so much growth and am just embracing natural beauty,” she told WSJ. Magazine. “I’m teaching her about mistakes that I made and making sure she knows she’s just perfect exactly how she is.”

When talking about the beauty mistakes she’s made in the past, one particular surgery comes to mind. Kylie said she didn’t touch her face, but got her breasts done at the age of 19 just before getting pregnant.

“And I was never insecure about myself. I actually was always super confident and loved my body. I was just having fun. I was influenced by amazing boobs and was like, that’s what I wanted to do, and had fun with it,” she explained. “I probably just should have waited until I maybe had kids or let my body just develop.”

She uses lessons such as that as teaching moments for her kids so they can “do better than us, be better versions of who we were.”

Being a mom has also changed the way she shares things on social media saying that she "protects a lot more" now that she's older.

"I think when I was younger, oh, my God, I used to post everything. That's where I gained these hard-core fans, too, that are like family now and have grown with me," Kylie said. "And I think just over time I guess the internet just got a little scarier maybe. And then I had children really young, which changed everything really."

The fashion line launched earlier this month and is a partnership with co-founders Kris Jenner and Popular Culture’s Emma and Jens Grede, a married couple who are also involved in Skims and Good American. The line will feature guest designers and concepts and aims to produce investment pieces at an affordable price.

The first pieces launched in the line includes black faux-leather pieces and nylon-and-elastane “base layers.” Nothing in the first release costs more than $200.

“The whole line is really inspired by my personal wardrobe, and the different moods that I’m in,” Kylie told WSJ. Magazine. She described the first drop of Khy as very “King Kylie - who I am at my core."

Kylie said that she knows what she wants to look like and what she wants to wear and has a strong creative vision.

“Creatively, I have such a strong vision of what I want to look like and what I want to do and what I want to wear,” she said. “There’s really no one telling me what to do.” Her mother adds that she “has actually been the creative director of her life and wardrobe since she was able to walk.”

Kylie covers WSJ. Magazine's highly anticipated November Innovator's Issue, out on newsstands Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023.
