Pop star Britney Spears is giving fans a full picture of her life in her memoir "The Woman In Me."
Although the memoir dives deep into her conservatorship, her estranged family, and her love life, it also focuses on smaller moments in her life, such as an eerie paranormal experience that took place following her public breakup from Justin Timberlake in 2002.
Britney Spears Reflects On Paranormal Experience Following Justin Timberlake Split
In her memoir, "The Woman In Me," Britney opens up on a paranormal event that occurred while she was driving through the Arizona desert following her split from the "Cry Me A River" singer in 2002.
In her memoir, she recalls that she was driving through Arizona with a friend who was also going through a breakup. Britney felt like she was living under a "curse" from the split and they were both using the trip to get away and clear their heads.
In her tell-all book, she recalled how they were driving at night under the starry sky with the top down on her convertible. She described how she felt the wind blowing through her hair before she said that "an eerie feeling settled over me." She described the feeling as "a profound beauty, otherworldly and humbling."
She Almost Asked Her Friend 'Do You Believe In Aliens?'
The Princess of Pop admitted that she almost asked her friend, "Do you believe in aliens?" but decided not to.
Britney explained how she "stayed quiet and sat there with the feeling for a long moment" until her friend asked her, "Do you feel that? What is that?"
The "Toxic" singer can't explain what she felt that night, but wrote, "We felt it at that moment because we needed it. We were so spiritually open and so raw. It showed us there was more than just what we could see."
Britney Describes Her Car As Her 'Spaceship'
In December 2022, the Princess of Pop compared her car to a "spaceship" and reflected on how much she enjoyed driving in a since-deleted Instagram post. In the caption, she recalled how she had an argument with then-husband Sam Asghari, who filed for divorce on August 16, 2023.
The two met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. In September 2021, Sam popped the question, two months before her controversial 13-year conservatorship ended. The two tied the knot in June 2022 but reports of trouble in their relationship started when the two were photographed out and about without the wedding rings a few months later.
The "Crossroads" actress began explaining how the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor thought that she had "gone bonkers" due in part to her new meditation practice. The pop star has opened up about fasting and meditation on Instagram, but it looks like Sam was never a fan. “I’m that meditation b—- now 🧘🏼♀️… my husband hates it … he thinks I’ve gone bonkers. My masseuse is always doing it and he looks so peaceful … I’m like wow … that looks interesting," she wrote at the time.
Britney then went on to explain that she sometimes forgets to eat, especially when she's upset. She also acknowledged that she might be "too sensitive" when she feels that things are amiss, especially in regards to her relationship. “Falling deep into yourself … I say all this because I try to make effort to take care of myself,” she wrote. “Normally I forget to eat … I wait way too long and I’m too sensitive so if anything goes wrong at the house it’s like the world has ended.”
It's unclear if Sam's mention that she had "gone bonkers" led to an argument between the former couple, but she revealed that she "cried so d---" hard that she had to retreat into her car for solace. “So l got in my car yesterday and I cried … I cried so d— hard but geez, my car is my spaceship 🚀 … it’s where I have my best interests, thoughts, creative urges, ideas, it’s spiritual … totally spiritual and we’re all in this together on the road,” she wrote. “So I don’t feel alone unless those big 18 wheelers come by and hog the road and I want to s— on myself … but it’s me time … my own inner thoughts.”
Britney Spears’ tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me,” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
