Pop star Britney Spears was married to Jason Alexander for only 55 hours in 2004 when they eloped in Las Vegas.
In her new memoir, "The Woman In Me," the now 41-year-old reflected on how she only got married because she was "drunk" and "bored."
Her childhood friend, however, sees things differently, and has been taking to Instagram to slam the "lies" he perceives in Britney's tell-all book.

In one Instagram post, Jason shared a photo of a rose, her favorite flower.
“If roses are red and reality is too, then why is Britney’s book full of little white lies that aren’t true?” he wrote over the video.
“Words are cheap when they’re written for money,” he added in the caption.

In another Instagram post, set to the tune of “Remember This,” Jason shared a throwback photo of the two together.
“When I was with Britney in 2000 at Laura Lynne’s apartment… oh right we were just bored then too,” he wrote along with the hashtags #losers, #liars, and #contracts.
“Yeah Britney and I just hate each other and we don’t remember anything and we weren’t sober here,” he wrote along with several laughing face emojis and the hashtags #whateversells, #sellouts, #greed, and #losers.

Although ghostwriter Sam Lansky has helped many Hollywood stars like Madonna and Adele write their own memoirs, Jason isn’t a fan of how he helped Britney write her memoir.
“Thank you so much, Sam Lansky, for your ‘truthful’ words in your – I mean, ‘Britney’s book’ … I love when everything is a lie. Where is that book money going?” he asked along with the hashtag #liesformoney.
In the caption of this Instagram post, he wrote, “Written by… #goodtry,” seemingly implying that Britney didn’t write her own book.
What Did Britney Spears Write About Jason Alexander?
Although “The Woman In Me” won’t be released until Tuesday, in an excerpt published by Time, Britney admitted that “He and I got s—faced” before they decided to tie the knot in 2004.
“I don’t even remember that night at all, but from what I’ve pieced together, he and I lounged around the hotel room and stayed up late watching movies … then had the brilliant idea of going to A Little White Chapel at three thirty in the morning.”
She wrote that the two did not have feelings for each other. Instead, she said that they were “bored” and drunk, which is why they got married. “People have asked me if I loved him. To be clear: he and I were not in love,” she wrote. “I was just honestly very drunk — and probably, in a more general sense at that time in my life, very bored.”
She said that she never took the marriage “seriously” but was surprised by the reaction of her family members when they found out. “They made way too big a deal out of innocent fun,” Britney wrote. “Everybody has a different perspective on it, but I didn’t take it that seriously. I thought a goof-around Vegas wedding was something people might do as a joke.”
“Then my family came and acted like I’d started World War III. I cried the whole rest of the time I was in Las Vegas,” she continued. “I realized: something about me being under their control and not having a stronger connection to someone else had become very, very important to them.”
According to Page Six, Jason Alexander once alleged that Britney had the idea to get married after they “were doing drugs” together. “She just came out and asked me. She was like, ‘Well, let’s get married.’ And I was like, ‘Sure. You know, let’s do this,'” he recalled, saying that he was driven by love. “I went with my feelings,” he recalled. “I was in love with her. … I feel like she felt the same way.”
Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
