Britney Spears was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. The two shared two children together: Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17. On Friday, a source told Us Weekly that, in her memoir, "The Woman In Me," Britney accuses her father of assaulting her son during an argument in August 2019. At the time, Sean would have only been 13 years old.

“My son went to lock himself in a bedroom to end the fight, and my dad broke down the door and shook him,” Britney wrote. “Kevin filed a police report, and my dad was barred from seeing the kids.”

At the time, a source told Us Weekly that K-Fed had requested a restraining order against Britney's father, which was granted. The insider went on to say that Jamie was banned from seeing Sean and Jayden for three years. A second insider told the outlet that “the whole incident was very upsetting to her and her boys. Kevin was and still is furious.” The source went on to say that although "Preston was not physically injured," he was still "very scared and shaken up."

At the time, Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten told Radar Online that Jamie was never charged with a crime due to "insufficient proof" that the incident had occurred.

Britney Spears Feels ‘Sick’ Thinking About Her Father’s Control Over Her During Her 13-Year Conservatorship

In an excerpt from her memoir released by People magazine, the “Overprotected” singer said she felt like a “shadow” of herself after acknowledging the amount of control that her father and his associates had over her during her 13-year conservatorship.

“Thirteen years went by with me feeling like a shadow of myself. I think back now on my father and his associates having control over my body and my money for that long and it makes me feel sick,” she wrote.

“Think of how many male artists gambled all their money away; how many had substance abuse or mental health issues. No one tried to take away their control over their bodies and money,” she continued, adding, “I didn’t deserve what my family did to me.”

She also explained that the control over her own body was why she shaved her head in 2007. “I’d been eyeballed so much growing up, I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back,” she wrote in another excerpt released by People magazine.

However, once she was placed under a conservatorship, she no longer had control over what she looked like. “But under the conservatorship, I was made to understand that those days were now over. I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape,” she wrote. “I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take.”

Her father also contributed to her body shaming. “If I thought getting criticized about my body in the press was bad, it hurt even more from my own father. He repeatedly told me I looked fat and that I was going to have to do something about it,” she wrote.

“Feeling like you’re never good enough is a soul-crushing state of being for a child,” she continued. “He’d drummed that message into me as a girl, and even after I’d accomplished so much, he was continuing to do that to me.”

She went on to say that being in the conservatorship made her feel like a “robot” and contributed to the death of her creativity. “If they’d let me live my life, I know I would’ve followed my heart and come out of this the right way and worked it out,” she wrote.

Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
