Bruno Sammartino, a WWE Hall of Famer who headlined and sold out Madison Square Garden 188 times during his legendary career, has passed away at the age of 82.
According to KDKA in Pittsburgh, Sammartino passed away with his wife and two kids at his side. The outlet says he He died "peacefully" after recently battling health issues.
He was born in Italy but his family eventually immigrated to the United States, settling in Pittsburgh.
On May 17, 1963, Sammartino defeated Buddy Rogers in under a minute to become the second-ever WWE Champion. He held the title for eight years, the longest reign of any wrestler in any organization ever.
Sammartino was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger.
