Reality television star Kim Kardashian is appearing in court as part of the jury for a gang murder case.
The SKIMS founder is doing her civil service, as she was in the Van Nuys Courthouse all week, as part of a jury panel in a gang-related case.
Kim Kardashian Shows Up For Jury Duty
The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star was at the Van Nuys Courthouse, located in Los Angeles County, as part of the jury panel for a case in which two men were charged with murdering a man. The case is gang-related.
Kim Kardashian was in the courtroom for four days, Monday through Thursday. A TMZ member was in the courtroom alongside the "American Horror Story" actress as prospective jurors were questioned by the prosecutor and defense lawyers.
Of course, the reality television star showed up in style as she dressed to the nines, wearing leather pants, high boots, and a sleeveless white blouse on Thursday. She engaged with other jurors, eating snacks in the hallway during breaks and making small chat with the others in the courtroom.
Kim's bodyguard was right next to her the entire time she was in the courtroom, though, others did not treat her as a celebrity and spoke to her as if she were one of them.
Kim Kardashian Not Selected By Jury
Although Kim K. was there for four days, late Thursday afternoon, the lawyers made their selection on 12 jurors and four alternates. The reality television star was not among those selected.
Before the SKIMS founder was even questioned, she was dismissed, having completed her jury service.
Fans of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" can expect to see Kim's jury experience on her hit Hulu show as cameras surrounded her as she left the courthouse in her SUV.
Kim Kardashian's Goal Of Becoming a Lawyer
As many of her fans know, Kim Kardashian has been working towards becoming a lawyer, as she registered with the California State Bar to study law in 2018. In order to reach her goal, she blocked out 18 hours of supervised study alongside lawyers Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney each week, proving how determined she is.
“First year of law school you have to cover three subjects: criminal law, torts, and contracts,” she told Vogue in 2019. “To me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crime law I can do in my sleep. Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me. The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”
Her goal was to take the bar in 2022, but first, she must pass the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, in which she revealed she failed her first go around in 2020. In fact, she failed it three times, but fourth time was a charm because she eventually passed the 'baby bar' in December 2021.
“If you are doing law school the way I’m doing it, it is a four-year program instead of your typical three-year program. And after year one, you have to take the baby bar. This one’s actually harder, I hear, than the official bar,” Kim said on her reality television series at the time.
Kim Kardashian previously said that her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., is her inspiration for wanting to be a lawyer.
“We talked about it for sure when I was in college, but I wasn’t that serious,” she told Wall Street Journal magazine in 2021. “Hopefully one day I can start a law firm where we can help people pro bono and hire people who were formerly incarcerated. I don’t see me floating on a yacht. I think I’ll always feel good when I’m working.”
