Despite being down two starters due to injury, the Las Vegas Aces dominated in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals against the New York Liberty, claiming their championship for the second year in a row.

They became the first WNBA team to have back-to-back championships in more than 20 years!  And their coach, Becky Hammon, became only the third coach in WNBA or NBA history to win back-to-back titles in their first two seasons as a coach.

The close game ended the series at 70-69 and began the celebrations for the Aces and their MVP, star player A'ja Wilson.

The Las Vegas Aces Are The 2023 WNBA Champions!

The excitement could be felt through the many photos and videos shared on social media. With two star players injured and unable to play in Game 4, the Aces pulled off the victory against the Liberty in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

Their championship is the first back-to-back title in league history since the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001-02. Before the two back-to-back Sparks wins, the Houston Comets won the league's first four championships. Since the Sparks' two consecutive championships, teams have only won a single year at a time, until Wednesday night.

"This one's sweeter," Hammon said postgame about the win. "It just is. It's harder to do."

Fans dropped into the comment section of the Aces Instagram post to share their excitement for their MVP.

"THAT’S HER!!!" one person wrote. Another added, "MVP!!!!!! FACE OF THE W!!!!"

The celebrations continued on long after the team left the court. While Wilson was in the interview room with the press postgame, her team brought the celebration to her with music, champagne, and lots of excitement.

During their big entrance, Wilson said, "I gotta answer this question," so she could continue her interviews.

"This is what it's all about, to have your name etched in history right now with other teams," Wilson said. "We never gave up, and this is a moment that we need to celebrate. This is a moment that not a lot of people get a chance to do, and for us to do it shorthanded, it is truly amazing. It just makes the win that much more, that much better. So at the end of the day, it's huge."
