Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is opening up about his date with pop icon Taylor Swift.
The internet went wild after photos and videos of Kelce opening the car door for Swift went viral. Now, the Kansas City tight end is explaining why he is so "protective" over her.

On his "New Heights" podcast, which he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce, football player for the Philadelphia Eagles, Travis Kelce opened up about his date with Taylor Swift over the weekend, including that moment that he placed his hand on a security guard's back while he was out with the "Bad Blood" singer.
Jason Kelce asked his brother if he has received any backlash for doing so, which is when the tight end clarified that he never pushed the security guard, he simply put his hand on his back to show respect.

The Philadelphia Eagles player then asked Travis Kelce, "Have you had to enact any security of your own? Do you feel like you're a security guard when you are with Taylor?"
To which, the Kansas City Chiefs player responded, "I feel like whenever I'm on a date, I'm always having the sense that I'm a man in the situation. I'm protective, yeah, for sure. You always have to have that feeling or self-awareness, I guess."
A source previously told ET that Travis Kelce told the security guard at one point during the date night that he could "step aside" because "he'd take it from here".

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made separate surprise appearances during “Saturday Night Live” before the two attended the after-party. The two were spotted holding hands and kissing throughout the evenings, leaving Swifties in awe and happy for the pop star.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that at one point in the night, Kelce told Swift’s security guard that he could take over protecting her. “At one point, he actually told her security guard that he could step aside,” the source shared. “Like he’d take it from here.”
A different insider spoke to People, explaining that Kelce kept “going over and touching [Swift], putting his hand on her lower back or putting his hands on her waist, and then they would do a little kiss, and then they would go back to talking to whoever they were talking to. He kept checking in with her but gave her space to talk to other people in the room, both male and female, and he talked to a ton of people in the room, too.”

Although rumors have been swirling for some time now, they just hard-launched their relationship last weekend when they were spotted holding hands on their way to dinner in NYC.
Rumors then began swirling that the new couple is looking to purchase a house together in Kansas City, Missouri, which is where Travis Kelce is from. However, as The Blast previously reported, those rumors are not actually true.
