During her recent Las Vegas performance, Adele revealed her three-and-a-half-month sobriety journey, admitting she was "borderline alcoholic" in her 20s.
She candidly shared her experiences, including indulging in wine during the COVID-19 lockdown and a memorable night in a London gay bar.
Adele Admits She Misses Drinking So Much
During her recent Vegas performance, Adele shared her journey of being alcohol-free for three and a half months.
The "When We Were Young" singer confessed to having been "borderline alcoholic" in her 20s and expressed that her newfound sobriety feels somewhat dull, as she admitted missing alcohol.
The 35-year-old singer also mentioned giving up caffeine, adding, "I stopped drinking maybe like three and a half months ago. It's boring. I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my twenties, but I miss it so much. I cut out caffeine."
In a conversation with a fan who was enjoying a drink, she playfully expressed, per Daily Mail, "So enjoy your whiskey sour. I'm very, very jealous."
Her Memorable London Night Out
During the performance, Adele made other surprising revelations, sharing that during the COVID-19 lockdown, she and others indulged in early morning wine sessions.
"I remember when I came here in Covid, in lockdown, it was 11 am and I was definitely like four bottles of wine in – like we all were," she said. "I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically."
In February 2022, the "Hello" hitmaker had another memorable night when she visited a gay bar in London. Despite having given up drinking in October 2021, she had a few too many and ended up sobbing on stage in her bra. She even joined the performance, surprising the topless dancers and the audience with a pole dance.
Adele's evening at G-A-Y's Porn Idol event at Heaven in London became quite an unexpected spectacle as she partied with friends and asked, "How does everyone know it's me?" in her VIP area.
Adele Says It's A 'Whole Week Of Celebration' For Her Son's Birthday
Amid her sober stint, Adele revealed that she is planning an exciting week of celebrations in Las Vegas for her son Angelo, who is turning 11 this Thursday. The "Rolling in the Deep" hitmaker shared her excitement about her son's birthday, emphasizing that he takes it seriously, just like she does.
"This week my son turns 11 years old. Can you believe that? We have had a busy week celebrating him. He is very much like me because I take my birthday very seriously," she shared. "So it is a whole week or a month celebration, which I think everyone should treat their birthday like."
She added: "'From a very young age he seems to have adopted the same point of view, which isn't quite as fun. He is my son, and obviously, I adore him, and he is like, 'Can I do this and do that.'"
Adele humorously remarked that her son seems to have grown up faster than she anticipated, behaving more like a 25-year-old than an 11-year-old. She acknowledged his savvy nature, adding: "He is more savvy in every way than I am and I ever have been or ever will be. That is my week. So I guess my update next week will be, being a bullied mother, probably!"
Adele Pauses Performance To Take Her Belt Off
Elsewhere during the performance, Adele halted briefly, citing discomfort from a tight belt cinching her waist and a snug dress. Seated beside her partner, she candidly confessed to feeling bloated, jokingly referring to her belt as "solid gold."
Adele removes her belt during her Vegas residency with the help of her pianist:

The "I Drink Wine" singer playfully blamed her big breakfast, which included "bacon, potatoes, and an omelet," for her belt predicament. "Now my belt is squeezing me, my love handles swallow it up," she quipped.
In a daring move, Adele publicly asked her pianist a favor, saying, "I don't know if I should ask you to take it off." Her pianist obliged, and with a relieved smile, Adele thanked him.
