Britney Spears’ ex Justin Timberlake has been vocal about his pro-choice stance over the past few years.
The “Cry Me A River” singer’s stance has never been questioned until Tuesday, October 17, one week before Britney’s tell-all memoir “The Woman In Me,” was scheduled for release. A shocking excerpt from the book was published, revealing that Britney actually had an abortion while in the relationship with the *NSYNC member.
Justin Timberlake Made His Pro-Stance Position Known Before Britney Spears’ Unplanned Pregnancy Bombshell
In 2008, Justin Timberlake and then-girlfriend Jessica Biel attended a rally for presidential candidate Barack Obama. While encouraging others to vote, the “Mirrors” singer encouraged users to vote.
“Nobody should be able to say what you can do with your body,” the “7TH Heaven” star said at the event, as per Page Six. In response, Justin said, “I give Jess the right to choose where we go to eat all the time. The funny thing is, what the woman chooses is usually right.”
His political leanings became clear last year when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade after fifty years. He did not post his own statement on social media, but he did share his now-wife’s tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I am enraged. What happened today is not only a disgusting step backward for women – undermining our ability to make decisions for our own bodies… but it’s also dangerous,” she tweeted at the time. “You didn’t ban abortion, you banned access to SAFE abortion. #BansOffOurBodies.”
Britney Spears Reveals That She Wanted To Marry Justin Someday
Justin Timberlake later went on to marry actress Jessica Biel in 2012 while Britney stayed married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. She married actor Sam Asghari in June 2022; however, the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce on August 16 citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
In an excerpt of “The Woman In Me,” released by People magazine, Britney revealed that she wanted to get married to the "SexyBack" singer and saw a future with him one day. Although she admitted that it was a "surprise" that she was pregnant, she said that she does not consider her unplanned pregnancy a "tragedy."
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote in her memoir. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continued, adding, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Justin Timberlake Was 'Concerned' About What 'The Woman In Me' Might Reveal
It appears that the "It's Gonna Be Me" singer knew that the "Baby One More Time" singer would discuss the unplanned pregnancy in her memoir, as sources told Page Six on Monday that the 42-year-old singer was “concerned” about what Britney might write about him in her memoir.
One source told the outlet that he was "very curious what she'll reveal from their relationship," adding that the suspense was "eating at him." However, they went on to say, “This is Britney finally getting a chance to tell her empowering story and it’s nothing more than that.”
Last week, another source told Us Weekly that "The Social Network" actor was “not going to be happy” about what the "Overprotected" singer had to say in her memoir, claiming that Britney "goes after him hard." The insider also described the Princess of Pop as "excited but nervous" about the release of "The Woman In Me."
"It’s not Britney’s intention to skewer anyone,” they said, adding, “She’s just going to relay the facts from her perspective.” Fans are anxious to see what other bombshells the "Stronger" singer might reveal about her family and famous friends when "The Woman In Me" is finally released to the public on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
