Gigi Hadid and her family are reportedly receiving death threats and have now been "forced" to change their phone numbers due to death threats for their pro-Palestine stance.
The 28-year-old supermodel was recently slammed by the state of Israel's official Instagram page after sharing a photo that some considered antisemitic.
Gigi had previously broken her silence about the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, during which she emphasized her support for Palestine but also condemned the "terrorizing of innocent people."
The Hadid Family 'Forced' To Change Phone Numbers Due To Death Threats
Gigi Hadid and her Palestinian-American family have reportedly been at the receiving end of death threats, which has forced them to change their phone numbers and even go as far as seeking FBI help in containing the threats.
According to TMZ, sources claim that every member of the Hadid family's phone number got leaked online in the past week, leading to an onslaught of death threats from "people hitting them up with horrific sentiments ... including graphic descriptions of how they would carry out the Hadids' executions."
This comes after the state of Israel's official Instagram handle called out Gigi for a meme she shared, which had a message stating that it's not antisemitic to condemn the Israeli government.
Israel Slams Gigi Hadid
The model came under fire after sharing a meme that criticized the Israeli goverment's attack on Gaza.
The post read, "There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas."
Shortly after this, Gigi got a direct response from the Israeli government, asking, "Have you been sleeping this past week? Or are you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand."
They also made their own meme, similar to Gigi's, that read, "There is nothing valiant about Hamas' massacre of Israelis. Condemning Hamas for what it is (ISIS) is not anti-Palestine and supporting Israelis in their fight against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do."
The Israeli government continued blasting Gigi by sharing a gruesome image of what seems to be the floor of a child's room covered in blood, captioning it, "If you don’t condemn this your words mean NOTHING."
Gigi Hadid Speaks Out On The Israel-Hamas War
Gigi previously spoke out following the attack on Israel by Hamas, condemning the act while still showing her support for Palestine.
The model wrote on Instagram, "My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict – too many of which are children. I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it’s a responsibility I hold daily."
She continued, "I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person."
She Said 'Terrorizing Of Innocent People' Does Not Help The 'Free Palestine' Movement
Gigi further emphasized in her post how bad the attack is for the "Free Palestine" movement, which she and her sister, Bella, have spoken in support of over the years.
She wrote, “The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the ‘Free Palestine’ movement. The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back & forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of) and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic.”
Gigi continued, “If you are hurting as I share my condolences today with my loved ones, both Palestinian and Jewish, I’m sending you my love and strength – whoever and wherever you are.”
She concluded her post by noting, “There are a lot of complex, personal, and valid feelings, but every human deserves basic rights, treatment, and security; no matter their nationality, religion, ethnicity or where they were born. I know my words will never be enough or heal the deep wounds of so many, but I pray for the safety of innocent lives, always.”
