DMX Checks Into Federal Prison After a Last Minute Switch

DMX is finally in the big house, but it wasn't the one where he thought he'd serve out his one-year sentence for tax fraud.
According to X's attorney, the rapper was transferred Tuesday to FCI Hazelton in West Virginia instead of going to FCI Danbury in Connecticut.
DMX was originally ordered to serve his sentence at the "Orange is the New Black" prison, but his lawyer said the Bureau of Prisons decided to make a last minute change. We're told X is still happy with the location though because of Hazelton's treatment programs for addiction.
Not that he needs it, but Hazelton also has a state of the art vocational training program that prepares inmates for careers like carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, welding, culinary arts and graphic arts. They even offer training programs in Microsoft Office.
DMX will also get to participate in Hazelton's extensive arts & crafts department, which gives inmates access to oils, pastels, crayons, pencils, inks, and charcoal. Other crafts available include ceramics, leatherwork, models, clay, mosaics, crochet, knitting, sculptures and woodworking.
As for DMX's family, they are now further away than he wanted, but we're told they plan on visiting regularly.
He's due for release in 2019.
