Caleeb Pinkett, the brother of Jada Pinkett Smith, is getting a divorce from his wife of 13 years shortly before the release of her memoir, "Worthy."

This divorce filing comes shortly after the "Red Table Talk" host revealed that she has been separated from her husband, actor Will Smith, for six years.

According to new court documents obtained by The Blast, Caleeb Pinkett, the brother of Jada Pinkett Smith, is getting a divorce. The court documents were filed by his ex, Patricia Pinkett. The two have been married for over thirteen years but, according to the legal filing, she says they have been separated since February 2020.

She is asking for spousal support and joint custody of their 11-year-old, Caila. The couple, who were married on September 2, 2006, have yet to divide their assets. According to the court filing, “The exact nature and extent of any separate property assets and debts of either party is currently unknown to Petitioner, who will ask leave of Court to amend this Petition when such information has been ascertained.”

The divorce was filed on Monday, October 16, only days after the “Girls Trip” actress revealed that she had been separated from “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” actor for years before the infamous Oscars slap.

The 52-year-old actress revealed that she has been separated from the 55-year-old actor for years but has no plans for divorce. In an interview with People magazine, she said that they were "still figuring it out," adding, “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”

In a follow-up interview on the “Today” show, Jada told host Hoda Kotb that she and Will are actually working on fixing their marriage and hinted that they might reconcile in the future. “There’s no finding another great love, and I think that’s the point. It’s like we are in a place now that we are in a deep, healing space. And we are really concentrating on healing the relationship between us,” Jada revealed.

“There’s no divorce on paper. We really have been working hard. That’s the whole thing," she continued. "We are working very hard at bringing our relationship together. Back to a life partnership.”

Although some fans were shocked by the news of the separation, the couple's two children – Jaden Smith, 25, and Willow Smith, 22, are reportedly “relieved” that the news of their parents’ separation has now been made public. Over the weekend, an insider told the Daily Mail that the children trying to “heal” after being "extremely agitated" keeping lies about their parents' relationship over the past few years.

“Although Jaden and Willow love their mom to no end and take on many of her behaviors and traits, they are very relieved the news is finally out there so everyone can just get on with it, no one is getting any younger,” a source claimed, adding that the two were “uncomfortable” answering questions from the press about their parents' marriage.

“They all want everyone to be true to themselves and not hold any more grudges or secrets,” the source continued. “Jaden and Willow hope that everyone can now heal and remove any drama that still might be in their worlds now that all the revelations have come out.”

The source went on to say, “They have seen the attacks that their mom has gotten from all of this, and they really hope people can trust their mom in the future, they weren't expecting negativity to shine on their mom but now that it is happening, they want to get through it all as a family."

Another insider went on to say that Will and Jada had “put their children in a very strange and uncomfortable situation,” adding, “They were constantly asked about their parents, and for seven years, they had to basically lie to everyone and pretend that everything was perfectly fine when they knew it was not."
